BİR ÇAĞDAŞ ANLATIM DİLİ OLARAK ROMANDA GÖRSELLİK: ARABA SEVDASI'NDAN YÜKSEK TOPUKLAR'A Çağımızda, görsel kültürün ve görselliğin etkilerini her alanda görmekteyiz. Bunda iletişim konusunda her türlü teknolojinin hızla gelişmesinin de büyük payı bulunmaktadır. Görüntü, görsel dünya, hızla tüm sanat dallarını, toplumsal yaşayışı ve kültürleri etkilemiştir. Edebiyat ise görselliği zihinsel imgelem sürecinde, yazı aracılığıyla işletir. Roman imgeye ve kurguya dayalı, insanı konu alan bir edebiyat ürünüdür. Bu çalışma ile gündelik yaşamda değişen davranış kalıplarının, imajların romanda yazarın imgeleriyle yeniden yaratılması ve okuyucunun kendi imgelerini de katarak eseri alımlaması ve çoğaltma sürecinde, romandaki görsellik incelenmiştir. Çalışmaya örneklem olarak da iki farklı dönemin romanları ele alınmıştır. Bu da Türk edebiyatının ilk roman ürünlerinin verildiği ve çağdaş edebiyata geçiş süreçlerinin yaşandığı Tanzimat edebiyatının en önemli eserlerinden Recaizade Mahmut Ekrem'in Araba Sevdası romanı ile, 2000'li yıllarda yazılmış ve popülerlik kazanmış Murathan Mungan'ın Yüksek Topuklar adlı romanı arasındaki anlatım dilinin görselliğinin ne boyutlarda değiştiğinin bir göstergesi olacaktır Name and Surname:Ayşegül Utku Günaydın Field:Communication Science Programme:Communication Science Supervisor:Proffessor Nurçay Türkoğlu Degree Awarded and Date:Master - July 2003 Novel, İmage, Visuality ABSTRACT THE VISUALITY IN THE NOVEL AS A CONTEMPORARY EXPRESSION LANGUAGE (METHOD): FROM ARABA SEVDASI TO YÜKSEK TOPUKLAR The impacts of visual culture and visuality can be seen in almost every aspect of life. The technological innovations in the field of communication play a crucial role in this fact. The image and the visual world has been effecting all kinds of art, social life and culture. On the other hand literature makes use of visuality in the process of imagination through the use of writing. The novel is a literary product which focuses on human being and depends on imagination. In this study the visuality in the novel is examined through the analysis of the recreation of changing behaviors and images by the author together with the reader's perception and augmentation process. For this purpose two novels from two different periods has been selected, namely Araba Sevdası by Recaizade Mahmut Ekrem and Yüksek Topuklar by Murathan Mungan. The first one is counted for being one of the earliest works in the Turkish Literature representing both the characteristics of the transition to the contemporary literature and the Tanzimat period. The latter is dating from 2000's and a popular one which constitutes a good example for how the dimension of the visuality of the expression language (method) has changed.
