Abstract
Sosyal Bilgiler dersi ilk defa ABD ortaya konmuş, sosyal bilimlerin konularından oluşturulan eğitim amaçlı bir bilimdir. Ülkemizde Sosyal Bilgiler adıyla bu ders 1968 yılında ortaokullara okutulmak için konulmuştur. Tarih, Coğrafya ve Vatandaşlık Bilgisi konularının ard arda sıralanması şeklindeki ders 1985 yılında ortaokullardan, önce kaldırıldı. 1998 de yeniden konuldu.2005 de ger çekleşen Türk Eğitim sistemindeki köklü değişime bağlı olarak Sosyal Bilgiler Programı, tümüyle “davranışçı” bir nitelik sergileyen eski programın aksine, “Yapılandırmacı” (Constractivist) bir eğitim anlayışıyla ele alındı. Tüm Programlar bu yaklaşıma göre yenilendi. Yenilenen program ile eski programın coğrafya konularının mukayesesi çalışmanın konusunu oluşturmaktadır.
Social studies is a school subject, the content of which is composed of social sciences. It was first introduced in the United States. In Turkey, social studies appeared in secondary school curriculum programs in 1968. It consisted of history, geography and citizenship topics respectively. In 1985, it was removed from the curriculum and then later re-introduced in 1998. When the Turkish national educational system was reformed and subsequently substantial changes were made in curricular issues, the old social studies curriculum that was totally based on behaviorism was re-structured under the guidance of the constructivist learning paradigm like all other school curricula. The topic of this study is the comparison of the old and new social studies curriculum in terms of its geographic topics.
