Sosyal Ağ Platformu Wattpad Uygulamasının Ergenlerin Problemleri, Çözüm Stratejileri ve Olası Etkileri Açısından İncelenmesi

Abstract

Wattpad, okuma yazma uygulaması olarak geliştirilmiş bir sosyal ağ platformudur. Kitle iletişimaraçlarının da etkisi ile uygulama yalnızca sanal ortamda değil gençlerin gündelik hayatında da giderekpopülerleşmektedir. Bu durum ise uygulamada paylaşılan hikaye ya da romanların, uygulamanın takipçisi olangençler için anlamı ve olası etkilerine dikkat çekmektedir. Bu bağlamda çalışma, uygulamanın kullanıcılarıtarafından üretilmiş romanların, gençlerin problemleri, problemlerine yönelik çözüm stratejileri ve söz konusustratejilerini uygulama üzerinden paylaşımlarının olası etkilerini ortaya koyabilmek düşüncesi ile yapılmıştır. Budoğrultuda araştırmanın ana amacı, uygulamada üretilen romanların içeriklerinin, gençlerin problemleri, çözümstratejisi olarak risk alma, şiddet ve saldırganlık davranışları açısından incelenmesidir. Çalışmanın bulguları, ençok beğenilen, basılı yayına dönüştürülmüş beş Wattpad romanının, içerik analiz yöntemi ile incelenmesisonucunda elde edilmiştir. İçerik analizi kriterleri, Rosenberg Benlik Algısı Ölçeği, Ergen Sağlığı ve GelişimiEnvanteri, Ergenler için Riskli Davranışlar Ölçeği, Şiddet Eğilimi ve Saldırganlık Ölçekleri ile Ergenler içinAlgılanan Duygusal Psikolojik İstismar Kısa Formu ile Anne Baba Genç İlişkileri Ölçeği temel alınarakoluşturulmuştur. Bulgulara göre roman kurgularının, ergenlik dönemi gelişimsel ihtiyaçları ve problemleribağlamında oluşturulduğu, karakterlerin olumsuz benlik algısı, madde kullanımı başta olmak üzere birçok riskalma davranışı, şiddet ve saldırganlık davranışları, sağlıklı olmayan aile örüntüleri, okula uyum sorunları iletasvir edildiği bulunmuştur.

Wattpad is a social networking platform developed as a literacy application. The application has become more popular not only in the virtual environment but also in the daily life of young people. This situation draws attention to the meaning and possible effects of stories or novels that are shared in the application for young people following the application. In this context, the study was carried out with the notion of revealing the possible impacts of the novels written by the users of the application on the problems of the youth, the solution strategies for these problems and the sharing of these aforementioned strategies through the application. Accordingly, the main purpose of this study is to examine the content of the novels shared in the application in terms of the problems of youth and their risk-taking, violent and aggressive behaviors as a solution strategy. The results of the study are obtained by using content analysis method applied to five favorite Wattpad novels converted to printed publication. The content analysis criteria are developed based on the Rosenberg Self-Perception Scale, the Inventory of Adolescent Health and Development, the Scale of Risky Behaviors for Adolescents, Violence Tendency and Aggression Scales, Short Form on Perceived Emotional Psychological Abuse for Adolescents and the ParentChild Relationship Scale. According to the results, it was concluded that novel fictions were developed within the context of developmental needs and problems of adolescence and described by many risk-taking behaviors particularly negative selfperception of the characters and substance use, violence and aggression behaviors, non-healthy family patterns, and school adaptation problems.
