Tarih öğretmenlerinin barış eğitimine yönelik görüşlerinin incelenmesi

Abstract

ÖZETBu araştırmanın amacı tarih öğretmenlerinin barış eğitimine dair görüşlerini ortaya koymaktır. Bu amaçla barış eğitiminin neliği, okulların/ tarih öğretiminin/ tarih ders kitaplarının/ değerler ve tarihsel düşünme becerilerinin barış eğitimine katkısı hakkında öğretmen görüşlerine başvurulmuştur. Aynı zamanda barış eğitimi bağlamında öğretmenlerin tarih derslerindeki deneyimlerine yer verilmiştir.Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu İstanbul ilinin çeşitli ilçelerinde Milli Eğitim Bakanlığına bağlı devlet okullarında ve özel okullarda görev yapan 19 tarih öğretmeni oluşturmaktadır. Bu araştırmada nitel araştırma yöntemi tercih edilmiştir ve araştırmanın problemine taraf olabilecek öğretmenlerin probleme ilişkin yaşantılarını ortaya koymak amaçlı nitel araştırma desenlerinden Fenomenoloji (olgubilim) seçilmiştir. Araştırmanın verilerini görüşme ve odak grup görüşmesi ile elde edilen öğretmen görüşleri oluşturmaktadır. Veriler ses kayıt cihazı ile kayıt altına alınmış ve yazıya aktarılmıştır. Elde edilen verilerin analizinde içerik analizi ve betimsel analiz yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Öğretmenler literatürdeki barış eğitimi tanımlarıyla örtüşen açıklamalar yapmışlardır. Genel olarak okulların formal eğitim verilen alan olarak barış eğitimine katkısının olacağı görüşünü ifade etmişlerdir. Tarihsel düşünme becerilerinden tarihsel empati ve sorgulamaya dayalı araştırma becerisi, değerler kapsamında saygı değeri ön plana çıkmaktadır. Öğretmenler genel olarak tarih derslerinin barış eğitimine olumlu anlamda katkısının olabileceği görüşündedirler.

The aim of this study is to reveal the views of the teachers of history on peace education. For this purpose, teachers' opinions were asked about the notion of peace education, the contribution of schools/ history teaching/ history textbooks/ values and historical thinking skills to peace education. At the same time, the experiences of teachers in history lessons in the context of peace education were also elicited.The study group consists of 19 teachers of history working in either public or private schools affiliated to the Turkish Ministry of National Education in various districts of Istanbul. In this research, qualitative research method was preferred and Phenomenology was selected from qualitative research designs to reveal the experiences of teachers who might be a party to the problem of the current research. The data of the study consisted of teacher opinions obtained through individual and focus group interviews. The data were recorded by a voice recorder and transcribed. Content analysis and descriptive analysis methods were used in the analyses of the obtained data.The teachers made explanations that overlap with the definitions of peace education in the literature. In general, they stated that schools as the place of formal education would contribute to peace education. Of the skills and values, research skills gained through historical empathy and questioning, and respect stand out in the results. Overall, the teachers believe that history lessons can contribute positively to peace education.
