Yeşil ekonomiye geçişin Türk bankacılık sektöründe oluşturacağı etkiler

Abstract

Sanayileşme, küreselleşme ve şehirleşmenin etkisiyle beraber gıda, su, enerji gibi birçok kaynağın hızla tükenmesi dünya üzerindeki baskıyı arttırmıştır. Dünya üzerindeki nüfusun büyük bir kısmının şehirlerde yaşaması doğal kaynaklara erişimi sınırlandırmakta, gıda güvenliği sorunları oluşturmakta ve gelir dağılımı adaletsizliklerine neden olmaktadır. 2000’li yıllarından başından itibaren iklim krizlerine dayalı risklerin toplumun tüm kesimlerini etkiliyor olması başta Avrupa Birliği olmak üzere tüm uluslararası aktörleri iş birliğine davet etmiştir. Yaşanan yeşil dönüşüm hemen hemen tüm sektörlerde doğrusal ekonomi modelinin terk edilerek, döngüsel ekonomi modeline uygun şekilde iş modellerinin revize edilmesi gerekliliğini doğurmuştur. Yeşil dönüşümün bir parçası olan yeşil ekonomiye geçiş sürecinde bankacılık ve finans sektörünün üzerine önemli görevler düşmektedir. Bu dönüşüm hareketinin finansörü olacak bankaların konuyu değerlendirme biçimleri ve iş süreçlerinde gerçekleştirecekleri değişim ise bu tezin konusunu oluşturmaktadır. Bu tezde, sürdürülebilir kalkınma ve yeşil ekonomi modeli tüm yönleriyle açıklanacak ve bankaların yeşil ekonomiye geçiş sürecinde iş modellerini nasıl değiştirdikleri analiz edilmeye çalışılacaktır. Çalışma kapsamında reel sektörün bankalardan beklentileri değerlendirilecek ve bu doğrultuda bankaların almış oldukları aksiyonlar açıklanmaya çalışılacaktır. Çalışmanın sonucunda Türk Bankacılık Sisteminde yeşil ekonomiye geçiş sürecinin henüz olgunlaşma aşamasında olduğu ve müşteriler ile bankaların etik bilincinin artmasıyla bankacılık sektörünün sürdürülebilir kalkınmaya katkılarının artacağı söylenebilecektir.

The rapid depletion of many resources such as food, water and energy due to the effects of industrialization, globalization and urbanization has increased the pressure on the World. The fact that a large part of the world's population lives in cities limits access to natural resources, creates food security problems and causes income distribution injustices. The fact that risks related to climate crises have been affecting all segments of society since the early 2000s has invited all international actors, especially the European Union, to cooperate. The green transformation has necessitated abandoning the linear economy model in almost all sectors and revising business models in line with the circular economy model. The banking and finance sector has important duties in the transition to green economy, which is a part of the green transformation. The subject of this thesis is the way the banks, which will be the financiers of this transformation movement, evaluate the issue and the changes they will make in their business processes. In this thesis, the sustainable development and green economy model will be explained in all its aspects and it will be tried to analyze how banks change their business models in the transition to green economy. Within the scope of the research, the expectations of the real sector from the banks will be evaluated and the actions taken by the banks in this direction will be explained. As a result of the research, it can be said that the transition to green economy in the Turkish Banking System is still in its maturation phase and that the contributions of the banking sector to sustainable development will increase with the increase in ethical awareness of customers.
