Publication: Yarışan erkek triatletlerin maksimal kuvvet çalışmalarının performanslarına etkisi
Abstract
Title: The İmpact of Maksimal Strength Training on the Performances of Competing Male Triathletes. Purpose: This study has determined anthropometric measurements, muscular strength and aerobic endurance of 14 (n=14) male triathletes by using test protocols in the beginning and middle of the preparation period for the new season, and has measured athletes physical and physiological conditions, as well as researching the impact of maximal strength training on their strength and endurance performances. Materials and Methods: In the study, two groups have been formed as control group and experimental group. While the subjects of the control group continued their branch-specific training (endurance) for 6 weeks, those in the experimental group conducted their combination of strength and endurance training for 6 weeks. Before and after the 6-week-test period, length-weight measurements, body fat and waist circumference measurements, maximal strength measurements of leg and pectoral muscles by indirect 1 repetition maximum leg press and bench press tests, aerobic capacity measurements by Cooper 12 minute run test have been conducted. Results and Conclusion: In this study, no difference has been found in the average body weight, body mass index, body fat percentage, skinfold thickness of athletes in the experimental group who exercised in the strength and endurance training combination. A decrease has been observed in the waist and hip circumference measurements, waist/ hip ratio, biceps, chest and shoulder circumference, while an increase has been observed in maximal strength, in the distance the subjects run according to Cooper test used for indirect aerobic capacity measurement and thus maxVo2 athlon, Endurance, Maximal Strength, Training, MaxVo2
