Abstract
Turkish Version, Validity and Reliability of the Fear Avoidance Components Scale in Patients with Chronic Pain with Musculoskeletal ProblemsStudent: Kadir TURAN Supervisor: Prof. Dr. Zübeyir SARI Department of Science: Physiotherapy and RehabilitationObjective: In study where the Turkish Version, Reliability and Validity of Fear Avoidance Components Scale (FACS) in patients with chronic pain with musculoskeletal problems, it was aimed to evaluate the psychometric properties of FACS and to make cultural adaptation to Turkish. Materials and Methods: English-Turkish translation of FACS was made. 208 case between ages of 18-70 with chronic pain from musculoskeletal system for at least 3 months participated in the study. Construct validity, factor analysis and criterion validity were evaluated by Pearson correlation analysis. Cronbach’s alpha internal consistency, test-retest reliability coefficients were calculated to determine the reliability level of the questionnaire. Results: The FACS was found to consist of a 2-Factor Structure, as in the original scale. total variance of two factors was calculated as %40,749. Factor1 accounts for %28,139 of the total variance, and factor2 accounts for %12,609. A statistically significant correlation was found between total score of FACS and Tampa Kinesiophobia scale with a positive directional moderate intensity (r=,555) (p<0.05).Cronbach's alpha value of FACS was calculated as 0.815. Factor 1 Cronbach's Alpha coefficient value was 0.828, while factor 2 Cronbach's alpha value was 0.649. Test retest correlation analysis as a result of FACS1.Section r=0.854, FACS2.Section r=0.849, FACS r=0.809 correlation coefficients were statistically significant (p=0.000).Conclusion: As a result of the study, it was psychometrically proven that Turkish version of the FACS is a valid and reliable measurement tool.
