Abstract
Kullanım eşyası olmasının yanı sıra önemli sembolik
anlamlar taşıyan ayna, farklı toplumların kültürlerinde çeşitli anlamlar yüklenerek bugüne gelmiştir.
Türk sanat eserlerinin en seçkinlerine ev sahipliği
yapan Topkapı Sarayı Müzesinde sultanların kişisel
eşyalarının da koleksiyonları bulunmaktadır. Her
biri sanatsal değere sahip bu eşyalar arasında aynalar, önemli bir yer tutar. Bu nadir Saray koleksiyonu
“Sultanların Aynaları” adıyla 17 Ekim 1998 ile 17 Ocak
1999 tarihleri arasında Topkapı Sarayı Müzesi Seferli Koğuşunda sergilenmiştir. Sarayın Hazinesinde
bulunan 78 adet eser içinde çalışmamıza konu olan
Hazine 2-1805 envanter numaralı Fildişi Ayna Mahfazası XV. yüzyılın ikinci yarısına tarihlendirilmektedir. Eserin üzerindeki bezemeler, tarihlendirildiği
yüzyıl için dikkat çekicidir. Bu çalışmada eserin desen analizi yapılarak, kullanılan motifler incelenmiş
ve eserin üslubu, yakın örneklerle mukayese edilerek
tarihlendirmenin doğruluğu araştırılmıştır.
The mirror, which carries important symbolic meanings as well as being a useful item, has come to present day by carrying various meanings in the cultures of different societies along. The Topkapı Palace Museum, which hosts the most distinguished Turkish artworks, also has collections of personal belongings of the Sultans. Mirrors have an important place among these items, each of which has an artistic value. This rare Palace Collection was exhibited in the Expedition Ward of the Topkapı Palace Museum between 17th October 1998 and 17th January 1999 with the title: “Mirror of The Sultans”. Among the 78 artworks found in the treasury of the Palace, the ivory mirror case with inventory number “Hazine 2-1805”, which is the subject of our study, is dated to the 15th century. The decorations on the work are quite remarkable for the century it was dated. In this study, it is aimed to reveal the decoration style by analyzing the pattern of this artwork.
