Publication: Sosyal bilgiler öğretmen adaylarının hukuk okuryazarlığı eğitimi yeterliklerini geliştirmeye yönelik bir eylem araştırması
Abstract
Bu araştırmanın amacı, toplum yaşamının düzenli işleyebilmesi için gerekli olan hukukun tam ve doğru anlaşılmasını amaçlayan hukuk okuryazarlığı konusunda sosyal bilgiler öğretmen adaylarının yeterliklerini geliştirmektir. Nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden eylem araştırması modelinin uygulandığı bu araştırmanın katılımcı grubu 2021-2022 eğitim-öğretim yılında Doğu Anadolu Bölgesi’nde Eğitim Fakültesi Sosyal Bilgiler Eğitimi’nde öğrenim gören 20 öğrenciden oluşmaktadır. Veri toplama araçları olarak ön algı- son algı formları, odak grup görüşme formu, yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formu, öğrenci etkinlik formları, araştırmacı günlükleri ve öğrenci kompozisyonları (günlükler) kullanılmıştır. Elde edilen veriler içerik analiziyle analiz edilmiştir. Araştırma sonucunda öğretmen adaylarının hukuk okuryazarlığı yeterliklerinde olumlu yönde değişiklikler olduğu görülmüştür. Hukuk okuryazarlığı bilgi boyutunda öğretmen adaylarının hukuk kavramına, hukuk okuryazarlığı kavramına ve hukuk okuryazarı bireyin niteliklerine yönelik bilgilerinin arttığı görülmüştür. Hukuk okuryazarlığı becerileri boyutunda her beceriye yönelik farklı düzeylerde artış olmakla birlikte öğretmen adaylarının hukuk okuryazarlığı ile ilgili beceriler kazandıkları tespit edilmiştir. Uygulama öncesinde hukuk okuryazarlığı ile ilgili yeterli bilgilere sahip olmadıklarını ve etkinliklerin sıkıcı olabileceğini ifade eden öğretmen adaylarının süreç sonrasında konuya ilişkin düşüncelerinin olumlu yönde değiştiği görülmüştür. Hukuk okuryazarlığına yönelik gerçekleştirilen uygulamaların öğretmen adaylarının bilgi ve becerilerini artırdığı, kişisel ve mesleki gelişimlerine katkı sağladığı sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Bu sonuçlar doğrultusunda; sosyal bilgiler öğretmen adaylarının hukuk okuryazarlığı yeterliklerinin geliştirilmesine yönelik benzer çalışmalar diğer öğretmen adayları için de yapılmalı, sosyal bilgiler öğretmen adaylarına hukuk okuryazarlığı eğitimine yönelik hizmet öncesi eğitim seminerleri verilmelidir.
The aim of the present study is to improve the competencies of pre-service social studies teachers in legal literacy, which is related to thorough understanding of law that is necessary for the proper functioning of social life. The study was conducted as action research, which is one of the qualitative research methods. The participants of the study were 20 pre-service social studies teachers studying in Estearn Anatolia Social Studies Teaching Department during the educational year of 2021- 2022. Pre-perception and post-perception forms, focus group interview form, semi-structured interview form, students’ activity forms, researcher diary, and students’ compositions (diaries) were used as data collection tools in the study. The obtained data were analyzed according to the principles of qualitative content analysis. The findings revealed that the participating pre-service teachers’ legal literacy education competencies were improved. Regarding the knowledge dimension of legal literacy, it has been observed that the knowledge of the pre-service teachers about the concept of law, the concept of legal literacy, and the qualifications of the legal literate individual has increased. Although there is an increase at different levels for each skill in the dimension of legal literacy skills, it has been investigated that pre-service teachers have acquired skills regarding legal literacy. It was observed that the pre-service teachers’ views regarding the issue were changed in the positive way after the process, who stated before the study that they did not have sufficient knowledge about legal literacy and that the activities could be boring. It has been concluded that the practices carried out for legal literacy increased the knowledge and skills of pre-service teachers and contributed to their personal and professional development. In line with the findings of the present study, it is suggested that similar studies can be carried out to develop legal literacy competencies of pre-service teachers of social studies, and pre-service trainings should be offered to them regarding legal literacy education.
