Publication: Çok kuşaklı aile işletmelerinde yaşanan çatışmaların kurumsal mantıklar çerçevesinde analizi
Abstract
The aim of this study is to investigate how conflicting institutional logics, family and commercial logic, affect the conflict between family members. In the study, conflicts between family members are handled under three groups as task, process and relationship. Interviews are conducted with family members who are also members of the board of nine large-scale multi-generational Turkish family businesses established in 1960 or earlier. Family businesses in which at least third generation family members work are included in the sample. The responses of the participants are analyzed by content analysis method. In this study, first, it is determined which institutional logic affects the family businesses interviewed and then the types of conflicts experienced by family businesses under the influence of different institutional logics. It is determined that six of the nine family businesses considered to be within the scope of the study are affected by family logic and three of them are affected by commercial logic. Findings have been obtained that three types of conflict can be experienced in family businesses under the influence of family logic: task, process and relationship. Also findings have been obtained that task conflict can be experienced in family businesses under the influence of commercial logic
