Yetişkin zihinsel engelli bireylerin istihdam edilme durumlarına göre yaşam doyumu, sosyal destek ve öz yeterlilik düzeylerinin incelenmesi

Abstract

Bu araştırmada yetişkin zihinsel engelli bireylerin yaşam doyumu, sosyal destek ve özyeterlilik düzeylerinin istihdam edilip edilmeme durumlarına göre karşılaştırılmasıamaçlanmıştır. Bu genel amaç çerçevesinde aşağıdaki sorulara cevap aranmıştır:Yetişkin zihinsel engelli bireylerin yaşam doyumu, sosyal destek ve öz yeterlilikpuanları istihdam edilip edilmeme durumuna göre farklılaşmakta mıdır?İstihdam edilen ve istihdam edilmeyen yetişkin zihinsel engelli bireylerin yaşamdoyumları, sosyal destek ve öz yeterlilik puanları yaş, cinsiyet, anne-baba hayatta mı,eğitim düzeyi, meslek, gelir düzeyi, daha önce istihdam edilip edilmediği, çalışmamasüresi değişkenlerine göre anlamlı derecede farklılaşmakta mıdır ?Araştırmanın örneklemini Bursa ilinde yaşayan herhangi bir devlet hastanesitarafından verilmiş zihinsel engelli raporu olan 18 yaş üstü 95’i çalışmayan 93’i çalışanbireyler oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmaya katılan bireylerin kişisel bilgilerini betimlemekamacıyla Kişisel Bilgi formu, Yaşam Doyumu Ölçeği, Çok Boyutlu Algılanan SosyalDestek Ölçeği ve Genel Öz Yeterlilik Ölçeği kullanılmıştır. Elde edilen veriler bilgisayardabir istatistik programında analiz edilmiştir. Araştırma sonucunda; istihdam edilen yetişkinzihinsel engelli bireylerin istihdam edilmeyen bireylere göre yaşam doyum puanlarıistatistiksel olarak anlamlı düzeyde daha yüksek olduğu bulgusuna ulaşılmıştır. Sosyaldestek değişkeni açısından bakıldığında; Çok Boyutlu Algılanan Sosyal Destek Ölçeği altölçeklerinden aile puanı için istihdam edilme durumuna göre anlamlı bir farkbulunamazken, istihdam edilen bireylerin Çok Boyutlu Algılanan Sosyal Destek Ölçeği altölçeklerinden arkadaşlar, özel bir insan ve toplam puanları istihdam edilmeyen bireyleregöre istatistiksel olarak anlamlı düzeyde daha yüksek bulunmuştur. Öz yeterlikdeğişkenine göre ise Genel Öz Yeterlilik ölçeği toplam puanı ve alt ölçekleri (başlama,yılmama ve sürdürme çabası–ısrar) istihdam edilme durumuna göre istatistiksel olarakanlamlı düzeyde farklılaşmamaktadır. İstihdam edilen ve istihdam edilmeyen yetişkin zihinsel engelli bireylerin yaşamdoyumları, sosyal destek ve öz yeterlilik puanlarının araştırmada ele alınan değişkenleraçısından farklılaşıp farklılaşmadığına bakıldığında ise; yaşam doyumu için istihdamedilenlerde anne ve babanın hayatta olması, meslek ve gelir düzeyi, istihdam edilmeyenleriçin cinsiyet, sosyal destek için istihdam edilenlerde anne ve babanın hayatta olma durumu,meslek, gelir düzeyi, öz yeterlilik içinse istihdam edilenlerde baba hayatta olma durumu veeğitim düzeyi arasında anlamlı farklar bulunmuştur.

This study aims to compare the life satisfaction, social support and self-efficacy levelsof the adult mentally disabled individuals according to their being employed or beingunemployed status.The following research questions were developed in this research: Do the lifesatisfaction, social support and self-efficacy scores of the adult mentally disabledindividuals differ according to their being employed or being unemployed? Do the lifesatisfaction, social support and self-efficacy scores of the employed and unemployed adultmentally disabled individuals differ significantly in line with the variables ofage, gender,parental survival, education level, profession, income level, employed before or not,unemployment time?The sample of this research consisted of 98 unemployed and 95 employed individuals,living in the province of Bursa, with a mentally disabled report issued by any public state.To describe the personal information of the subjects, Personal Information form, theSatisfaction with Life Scale the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support andGeneral Self-Efficacy Scale were used to collect data. The data were analyzed using astatistical program on the computer.The findings showed that life satisfaction scores of the employed adult mentallydisabled individuals were significantly higher compared to the unemployed adult mentallydisabled individuals. Regarding the social support variable, while there was not anysignificant difference for the family score, a sub-scale of themultidimensional scale ofperceived social support, according to the status of being employed, total scores and thescores of the friends, a special person, the sub-scales of the multidimensional scale ofperceived social support, of the employed individuals were found to be significantly higherthan the unemployed individuals. Regarding the self-efficacy scale, the total score and thesub-scale scores of the general self-efficacy scale (starting, being undaunted and effort tomaintain-persistence) did not differ significantly according to the status of being employed. When the findings regarding whether the life satisfaction, social support andself-efficacy scores of the employed and unemployed adult mentally disabled individualsdiffered according to variables of this study, significant differences were found betweenparental survival, profession and income level for employed individuals and gender forunemployed individuals about the life satisfaction; parental survival, profession andincome level for employed individuals related to the social support; parental survival andeducational level for employed individuals concerning the self-efficacy.
