Tez Türü ve Tarihi: Yüksek Lisans - Temmuz 2003 Kardeşlik, Kur'an, Eğitim, Tercih, Barış ÖZET DİN EĞİTİMİ AÇISINDAN KUR'AN'DA KARDEŞLİK KAVRAMI İnsanlık başlangıçta Adem Peygamberin çevresinde tek toplumdu. THE CONCEPT OF BROTHERHOOD İN THE QUR'AN FROM THE PERSPECTİVE OF RELİGİOUS EDUCATİON Humanity used to be one family around the Prophet Adam. Yet people disagreed with each other in time. God sent Messengers to solve the problems among human beings. All believers are brothers of each other regardless of where they live and which nation they belong to. Brotherhood is reaching harmony with a fellow believer in thought and sentiments. People who share the same ideas and values are brothers. Religious brotherhood stems from the faith in the oneness of God who sent the Holy Qur'an to bring together the hearts of believers, eliminate animosity among them and eventually turn them into brothers of each other. One of the most fundamental purposes of Islam is to transform biological brotherhood into religious brotherhood. Becoming brothers is a social change. The dynamic of this change is the transformation of hearts. No one has the power to change the hearts except God. Hatred and adversity in society can only be eliminated in society through brotherhood. The highest point of brotherhood is giving priority to one's brother over himself. Islamic brotherhood requires providing for the spiritual and material needs of homeless children who live on the streets. A believer should not have a negative opinion of his religious brothers. He should not spy on their shortcomings and mistakes. Nor should he backbite about them. He should not be jealous of them. For, these bad characters spoil brotherhood. A Muslim should be loyal to his brothers. He should pray for them in their absence. He should support them, forgive them if they have mistakes and never severe his ties with them. If there occurs a misunderstanding between brothers, other brothers should solve the problem in fairness. The task of teachers of religion is to call people to study and practice the Qur'an, make them brothers not only in words but also in their hearts and actions. Educators initially adopt the purpose of making people brothers by preparing an environment where their hearts love each other. Yet the actual result comes from God. Without the permission of God, no one has the ability and power to establish brotherhood among people. The path to love, tranquility, peace, unity and solidarity is through understanding Islam, putting it into practice and establishing Islamic brotherhood.
