Türkiye kıyılarında üzerinde şehir yerleşmesi bulunan tombololara genel bir bakış

Abstract

Makalede, Türkiye’nin Karadeniz, Marmara, Ege ve Akdeniz kıyılarında, uzun tarihi süreç boyunca üzerinde şehir yerleşmesi kurulan 11 tombolo ele alınmıştır. Kıyı jeomorfolojisinde özgün görünümüyle dikkati çeken tomboloların birçoğu bugüne kadar maalesef incelenmemiştir. Bunun için bu çalışmayla Türkiye’de hem kıyı jeomorfolojisi hem de şehir coğrafyasına bir katkının yapılması amaçlanmıştır. Makalede tomboloların oluşumu, fonksiyonel özellikleri ve üzerinde bulunan şehir yerleşmeleri hakkında birkaç paragrafı aşmayan özlü bilgiler verilmiştir. Bu bağlamda özellikle tombolo sahaları ile şehirlerin topografik mevkileri arasında sıkı bir ilişkinin olduğu, tomboloların İlkçağ’dan beri yerleşmelerin kuruluş yeri bakımından tercih edildiği ele alınan örneklerle ortaya konulmaya çalışılmıştır.

This paper deals with 11 tombolos, which have hosted urban settlements throughout the long historical process, on Turkey’s Black Sea, Marmara, Aegean and the Mediterranean coastlines. Unfortunately, most of these tombolos that draw attention with their unique appearance within the coastal geomorphology have not been studied to date. Therefore, this paper aims to make contributions to both coastal geomorphology and urban geography of Turkey. This paper provides brief information, not exceeding several paragraphs, about the formation and functional characteristics of tombolos, and urban settlements on these tombolos. In this context, it was strived particularly to demonstrate the close relation between the tombolo sites and topographic locations of cities, and the reason why the tombolos have been preferred as a place of settlement since the Antiquity through examples.
