Publication: Ortaokul öğrencilerinde dikkat ve ritim becerisinin tenisde oyun beceri seviyesi üzerine etkisinin incelenmesi
Abstract
The aim of this study is to investigate the relationship between attention and rhythm skill and play skill level in 10-14 year old middle school students. 52 students in secondary schools were included in the study on a voluntary basis. Tennis play skill assessment test (ITN), d2 attention test and rhythm test were used to measure visual attention. In order to measure their attention and rhythms, d2 attention test was performed in groups of 5 and immediately followed by individual rhythm test. In addition to the tests performed before the tennis studies, ITN (International Tennis Game Level Number) test was applied to the students in order to determine the game levels that are wanted to be examined on the basis of the research subject. To test students' attention, rhythm and ITN skills, correlation and t tests were performed. The Mann-Whitney U test, one of the non-parametric hypothesis tests, was used to compare the differences between the variables between the upper and lower groups. As a result, statistically significant difference was found between the students who had tennis training at the beginning level for twelve weeks, and who had good rhythm skill. On the other hand, no statistically significant difference was found between students' attention and play levels. When the differences between the rhythm and play levels of the students were compared according to gender, a statistically significant difference was found between male and female students (p <0.05). The results of this research (1) revealed the necessity of performing exercises to improve attention and to learn the rhythm of the game in order to improve tennis playing skills; the use of new teaching methods and materials that can be enjoyed by students at the stage of learning these skills; (2) In line with the latest decisions taken by the Ministry of National Education, we think that the rhythm skills training and attention-enhancing educational games in secondary school Physical Education and Sports curriculum will contribute to Physical Education and Sports course education.Key words: Rhythm, Student, Tennis, Attention.
