Hemşirelik öğrencilerinin basınç ülserlerinin önlenmesine ilişkin bilgi düzeyleri ve algıladıkları engeller

Abstract

Amaç: Araştırma, hemşirelik öğrencilerinin basınç ülserlerinin önlenmesine ilişkin bilgi düzeyleri ve bakımda karşılaştıkları engeller ve ilişkili faktörleri incelemek amacıyla, kesitsel ve tanımlayıcı olarak yapıldı. Gereç ve Yöntem: Gereç ve Yöntem: Araştırmanın örneklemini Nisan-Mayıs 2019 tarihleri arasında Doğu Anadolu Bölgesi’ndeki bir devlet üniversitesinin Sağlık Bilimleri Fakültesi Hemşirelik Bölümü’nde 2., 3. ve 4. sınıfta öğrenim gören 227 öğrenci oluşturdu. Verilerin toplanmasında “Bilgi Formu” ve “Basınç Ülseri Önleme Bilgi Değerlendirme Ölçeği (PUPKAI)” kullanıldı. Veriler yüzde hesapları, Kolmogorov Smirnov test, box plot grafikler, Kruskal Wallis H testi, Dunn testi, Mann Whitney U testi ve Spearman korelasyon analizi kullanılarak değerlendirildi. Bulgular: Hemşirelik öğrencilerinin yaş ortalaması 21,54±1,38 ve %70,9’u kadın olup; %77,5’i klinik uygulamada basınç ülserli hasta ile karşılaştığını bildirdi. PUPKAI puanı 5 ile 17 arasında değişmekteydi ve ortalaması 10,53±2,67 olarak belirlendi. Yeterlilik için kabul edilen puan 16'dır. Öğrencilerin yalnızca %4,8’inin 16 ve üstü puan aldığı ve 4.sınıfın öğrencilerinin PUPKAI puanının 3.sınıf öğrencilerinden anlamlı düzeyde düşük olduğu saptandı (p=0,038; p<0,05). Sonuç: Hemşirelik öğrencilerinin basınç ülserinin etiyoloji ve gelişimi, risk değerlendirmesi, basınç düşürücü önlemlerden pozisyon değişiklikleri ve kullanılan destek yüzeyleri hakkındaki bilgilerinin yetersiz olduğu; uygulamada basınç ülserlerinin önlenmesine ilişkin olarak algıladıkları engelleri sıralamaları istendiğinde fiziksel yeterliliği “en çok önemli”, mali durumu “en az önemli” engel olarak algıladıkları sonucuna varıldı.

Aim: The study was conducted as cross-sectional and descriptive study in order to investigate the knowledge levels of nursing students about the prevention of pressure ulcers and the barriers they encounter in care and related factors. Materials and Methods: The sample of the study consisted of 227 students in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th grades of the Nursing Department of the Faculty of Health Sciences of a public university in the Eastern Anatolia Region between April and May 2019. “Information Form” and “Pressure Ulcer Prevention Knowledge Assessment Instrument (PUPKAI-T)” were used to collect data. Data were evaluated using percentage calculations, Kolmogorov Smirnov test, box plot graphs, Kruskal Wallis H test, Dunn test, Mann Whitney U test and Spearman correlation analysis. Results: The mean age of the nursing students was 21.54 ± 1.38 and 70.9% were female. 77.5% reported that they experienced pressure ulcers during their clinical practice The PUPKAI score ranged from 5 to 17, with a mean of 10.53 ± 2.67. The score accepted for qualification is 16. It was found that only 4.8% of the students had a score of 16 and above and the PUPKAI score of the 4th grade students was significantly lower than the 3rd grade students (p = 0,038; p <0,05). Conclusion: It was concluded that nursing students had insufficient knowledge about etiology and development of pressure ulcer, risk assessment, position changes from pressure reducing measures and support surfaces used; In practice, it was concluded that perceived obstacles perceived physical competence as ”the most important” and financial status as “least important”.
