Temettüat defterlerine göre Karadeniz Ereğli’nin ekonomik ve sosyal tarihi

Abstract

Osmanlı Devleti’nin XIX. Yüzyıldaki yenileşme hareketleri sürecindeki en önemli adımlardan biri olan ve mali dönüşümü gerçekleştirmede önemli rol oynayan Temettüat Defterleri bu çalışmanın ana kaynağını oluşturmaktadır.Bu açıdan bakıldığında Temettüat defterlerinin hazırlanışı iktisadi, mali ve sosyal olarak bir dönüm noktası olmakla beraber hem eski dönemin resmi ortaya koyan hem de yeni dönem için başlangıç noktası oluşturan bir özellik arz etmektedir. Bolu eyaletine bağlı bir kaza merkezi olan Ereğli için de sayımlar yapılmış, burada yaşayan hane reislerinin isimleri, meslekleri, gelirleri, sahip oldukları taşınmazlar ve vergi miktarları tespit edilmiştir. Bu kayıtlara dayanılarak kasabanın ekonomik ve sosyal yapısı ortaya çıkarılmıştır. Verginin gelir içindeki payı, meslek çeşitleri ve bu mesleklerin sosyal dokuya etkileri incelenmiştir. Kasabada denizcilik, gemicilik ve bunlarla bağlantılı olan mesleklerin ekonomik yaşamdaki ağırlıkları dikkati çekecek ölçüdedir ve bu durumla ilgili değerlendirmeler yapılmıştır. Bunun yanında vergi türleri, bu vergilerin toplumdaki yaygınlığı, adil dağılımı da belirlenmeye çalışılmıştır. Ereğli kasabasının 1845 yılına ait tüm gelirleri ve maddi varlıkları arşiv belgeleri ışığında saptanmıştır. Kaza merkezindeki ekonominin zirai ve ticari ayrıntıları gösterilmiştir.Kasabadaki Müslüman ve Gayrimüslim kitlenin benzeşen ve farklılaşan yönleri belirtilmiştir. Bunun yanında toplumdaki dini farlılığın ekonomik ve sosyal gelişmişlik olarak da bir ayrımı ortaya çıkartıp çıkartmadığı sorusuna da cevap verilmeye çalışılmıştır. Temettüat Defterleri, Ereğli

Temettuat Registers constitute the main source of this research. It is one of the most important steps to keep Temettuat Registers during the process of modernization in the 19th century and these records had a great role in achieving economic transformation. When considered from this point of view, keeping the records of Temettuat is a critical point in both economic and social sense. Not only does it reflect the old era but it is a beginning for the new period as well. Population census in Eregli, a county seat of Bolu province, was taken and the names of householders, their occupations, incomes, the real property they owned and the amount of tax they paid were recorded. Referring to these records the economic and social structure of the county was described. The ratio of the tax in income, types of occupation and the effects of these occupations on social context were examined. Prevalence of certain occupations such as maritime, shipping and other related jobs in the economic life of the county is remarkable and some evaluations upon this issue were done. Furthermore, the types of tax, prevalence and fair distribution of these taxes were tried to establish. All incomes and tangible assets of Eregli County, belonged to the year 1845, were determined in the light of the archives. Agricultural and commercial details of the economy in the county seat were given. Similar and different sides of Muslim and non-Muslim crowd in the county were stated. Besides, it was tried to answer to the question of whether religious differences caused a division in society in the sense of economic and social development. Key Words: Temettuat Registers, Eregli
