Publication: Koroner arter bypass yapılan hastalarda sosyal destek ile umutsuzluk düzeyi ilişkisi
Abstract
Relation of Social Support and Hopelessness Level on Coronary Artery Bypass Made Patients Cardiovascular diseases continue to be one of the leading causes of death in developing countries. This study was done to evaluate relation between social support and hopelessness level in 71 patients had coronary artery bypass surgery. Hopelessness and Social support scales was performed totally three times for each patient in the period of before the operation, after the operation and on discharged of hospital period. The data were collected with “Multidimensional Perceived Social Support Scale” and “Beck Hopelessness Scale”. Collected data were analyzed using SPSS version 11.5. There was a negative relationship between perceived social support points of patients and hopelessness. ). Received hopelessness mean scores of patients according to periods were higher on postoperative (3,38±3,72) and discharge period (2,80±2,24) whereas lower on preoperative period (3,85±3,80) and this was found statistically significant (p<0,05). Perceived social support of patients according to periods increased on postoperative (25,38± 3,86) and dischage period (25,5± 3,57) whereas lower on preoperative period (24,87± 4,16). Obtained difference among mean scores was found to be statistically significant (p <0.05). Demographic features like age, gender, educational status, employement status was examined both in terms of hopelessness and social support. When we examined own internal demographic features according to periods, it was seen that it influenced social support and hopelessness levels on the other hand age, employement status, gender and education status generally didn’t influenced social support and hopelessness in a significant level.
