Publication: Lise öğrencilerinde rekabetçi tutum, benlik saygısı ve akademik başarı ilişkisi
Abstract
Bu araştırmada, lise öğrencilerinin rekabetçi tutum, benlik saygısı ve akademik başarıları arasındaki ilişki araştırılmak istenmiştir. Bu üç özellik araştırmanın temel değişkenleri olarak kabul edilmiştir. Bunun yanı sıra teorik anlamda ilişkili olduğu düşünülen diğer bir takım özelliklerinde bu temel değişkenlerle ilişkileri araştırılmak istenmiştir. Bu değişkenler; cinsiyet, yaş, okuduğu okul, sınıf ve bölümdür. Uygulama 2004-2005 eğitim-öğretim yılında İstanbul ili Maltepe ilçesinde bulunan 4 lisede 9.10.11. sınıf öğrencilerinden 458 kişilik bir örneklem grubuna uygulanmıştır. Araştırmada veri toplamak amacıyla; “Bireyi Tanıma Formu”, “Rekabetçi Tutum Ölçeği” ve “Coopersmith Benlik Saygısı Envanteri” kullanılmıştır. Elde edilen verilerin istatistiksel analizleri SPSS ile bilgisayarda yapılmıştır. Araştırmada veri türlerine göre Bağımsız Grup t testi, ANOVA, Kruskal-Wallis testi ve Pearson Çarpım Moment Kolerasyon katsayısı kullanılmıştır. Elde edilen bulgular; rekabetçi tutum cinsiyete, yaşa, okuduğu okul, sınıf ve bölüme göre farklılık göstermemektedir. Aynı şekilde benlik saygısı ile yapılan analizlerde de cinsiyet, yaş, okuduğu okul, sınıf ve bölüme göre farklılık bulunmamıştır. Yapılan bir diğer analiz sonucunda ise akademik başarı puanı ile rekabetçilik ve benlik saygısı puanları arasında pozitif yönlü bir ilişki olduğu saptanmıştır. Yani öğrencilerin akademik başarıları ne kadar yükselirse rekabetçi tutum ve benlik saygıları o kadar artmaktadır.
The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship among the competitiveness, self-esteem and academic success of high school students. Those three properties were our fundemental variables. Beside of this, we wanted to investigate the relationship among the other variables like sex, age, type of the school and class. The survey was applicated in 2004-2005 education year at four high school 9. 10. and 11th class students in Maltepe. There were 458 high school students in our investigation. We used “Personal Information Form”, The Competition Scala” and The Coppersmith Self- Esteem Scala” during the data gathering phase. To analyse the data we used SPSS program. The Independent Group T-Test, One-Way Analysis of Variance(Anova), Non-Parametric Kruskal Wallis-Test and Pearson Moment Correlation, was used for the statistical analysis. The results showed that competition attitudes and self-esteem have no differences according to sex, age, school and class. We found academic success, self esteem and competitiveness have positive correlation. So when the students academic success increase, competitiveness and self esteem will increase.
