Atatürk dönemi dergilerinde Türk milliyetçiliği düşüncesi (1923-1938)

Abstract

Milliyetçilik tüm dünya için güçlü bir olgu olmaya devam etmekte, Osmanlı İmparatorluğu’nun bünyesinden çıkmış siyasi ve toplumsal yapılar içinse ayrı bir önem taşımayı sürdürmektedir. Bu bağlamda oldukça geniş bir bölgede etkileri olan Türk milliyetçiliği güncelliğini korumaktadır. Bu tez ile siyaset bilimi, sosyoloji, psikoloji, antropoloji, uluslararası ilişkiler gibi muhtelif disiplinlerin konusu olan Türk milliyetçiliği hakkındaki akademik literatüre tarih disiplininden mütevazı bir katkıda bulunmak amaçlanmıştır. Tez, Atatürk’ün cumhurbaşkanlığı döneminde Türk milliyetçiliği düşüncesini Anadolu Mecmuası, Türk Yurdu, Kadro, La Turquie Kémaliste, Ülkü ve Kültür Haftası dergileri üzerinden inceleme girişimidir. Çağdaş Türk düşüncesinin etüdünde özel bir yeri olan dergilerin ulus devletin kuruluş yıllarındaki milliyetçi fikriyatı çeşitlilik ve değişkenliğiyle anlamaya imkan sunacağından hareketle yapılan bu araştırmada, birincil kaynak olarak kullanılan süreli yayınların belirlenmesinde, dönemi azami derecede yansıtan bir seçki sunmaya gayret edilmiştir. Tetkik edilen her mecmuada en yoğun şekilde işlenen temalar ele alınmıştır. Yayından yayına yönetici ekip, yazar kadrosu, hedef okur kitlesi gibi faktörlere göre farklılaşan başlıca temalar milli tarih ve kimlik, vatan, din ve Batı’dır. Metinler edebi içerik hariç tutularak söylemsel bir örgü meydana getirecek surette sık tekrarlanan önerme ve kavramlarla irdelenmiştir. İncelenen her yayında fikriyatın milliyetçilik çalışmalarındaki çağdaş kuramlardan hangi yaklaşımı temel aldığı mümkün olduğunca tespit edilmeye çalışılmıştır.

Nationalism continues to be a strong phenomenon for the whole world, and it continues to have a special importance for the political and social structures that emerged from the Ottoman Empire. In this context, Turkish nationalism, which has effects in a wide region, continues to be an actual phenomenon. With this thesis, we aimed to make a modest contribution from the discipline of history to the academic literature on Turkish nationalism, which is the subject of various disciplines such as political science, sociology, psychology, anthropology and international relations. The thesis is an attempt to examine Turkish nationalism as a current of thought during Atatürk's presidency through the journals/ magazines Anadolu Mecmuası, Türk Yurdu, Kadro, La Turquie Kémaliste, Ülkü and Kültür Haftası. Based on the opinion that periodicals which have a unique importance in the study of contemporary Turkish thought, it will provide an opportunity to understand nationalist ideas in the formative years of the nation-state with their diversity and variability. In determining the periodicals used as primary sources, this study has endeavored to present a selection that reflects the period to the maximum extent possible. The most intensely covered themes in the abovementioned periodicals were examined. The main themes, which differ from publication to publication according to factors such as management team, writers, target readership, are national history and identity, homeland, religion and the West. Excluding literary content, the texts have been examined in terms of their frequently repeated propositions and concepts that create a discursive pattern. In each publication examined, an attempt was made to determine, as much as possible, on which approach from contemporary theories in nationalism studies the ideas were based.
