Abstract
Ulusal ve uluslararası arenada bilgi, herkes için önemli bir ihtiyaç haline gelmiştir. Kütüphaneler, bilginin ihtiyaç duyulduğu alanda hizmet veren birincil kuruluşlardır. Bu bağlamda, kütüphane hizmetlerini olumlu yönde etkileyecek temel faktörün de kütüphaneciler olduğu söylenmelidir. Kütüphanecilerin mesleklerine bakışı ve mesleklerini değerlendirmeleri, mesleklerine atfettikleri değere bağlı olarak, mesleğe olumlu veya olumsuz katkı sunmaktadır. Giderek artan iş kaygıları ve mesleki aidiyet sorunları gibi durumların bireylerin mesleklerini sevmesini zorlaştırdığı düşünülmektedir. Kütüphanecilik mesleği de diğer meslekler gibi bu sorunları yaşamaktadır. Bu çalışmada; kütüphanecilik mesleğinin toplum nezdinde bilinirliği, çalışma koşulları, mesleki faaliyetler gibi değerlendirmelerin, kütüphanecilerin gözünden nasıl görüldüğü incelenmeye çalışılmıştır. Bu tez çalışması, kütüphanelerin aktif olmasında önem arz eden temel paydaşlardan kütüphanecilerin, mesleklerini tanımlamasıyla ilgili görüşlerinin değerlendirilmesini konu edinmiştir. Kütüphanecilerin mesleklerine nasıl başladıkları, mesleki faaliyetlerdeki rollerine ilişkin durumları, mesleğin avantaj ve dezavantajları, mesleğin istihdam sorunları, mesleki yeterlilikle ilgili düşünceleri ve mesleki kaygıları hakkındaki düşünceleri değerlendirilerek ortak cevaplar aranmıştır. Çoğu kütüphanecinin, meslek tanımını yapmakta güçlük çektiği ortaya çıkmıştır. Mesleki faaliyetlerin yanı sıra, mesleki bağlılığın oluşmamasındaki temel sebeplerde belirlenmiştir. Kütüphanecilerin mesleki yeterlilikle ilgili düşünceleri, mesleğin gelişmesine olanak sağlayabilecek bakış açıları da toplanmıştır. Elde edilen verilerin incelenmesiyle kütüphanecilerin mesleki bağlılıklarının oluşmasında ve mesleğin tanımlanmasında sorunlara ilişkin ortak noktalar belirlenmiş, mesleki bağlılık kapsamında eksikliği hissedilen sorunlar belirlenmiştir. Kütüphanecilerin gözünden mesleğe ilişkin sorunlar ortaya çıkarılmaya çalışılmış ve kütüphanecilerin mesleklerine bakış açıları, tez çalışmasının içeriğini oluşturmuştur. Gerçekleştirilen bu çalışma bulgularının, kütüphanecilik meslek çalışmalarına ilişkin rehberlik edebileceği ve yararlı olacağı düşünülmektedir.
Information in the national and international arena, has become an important need for everyone. Libraries are the primary organizations that serve in the area where information is needed. In this context, it should be said that the main factor that will positively affect library services is librarians. The way the librarians look at and evaluate their profession offers a positive or negative contribution to the profession, depending on the value they assign to their profession. It has been thought that situations such as increasing business concerns and occupational belonging issues make it difficult for individuals to love their profession. The profession of librarian has been experiencing these problems, like other professions. In this study, it was attempted to examine the awareness of the librarian profession in public, the working conditions, the professional activities, and how the evaluations are seen from the eyes of the librarians. This thesis study has taken into consideration the evaluation of the views of librarians, who are important stakeholders in the activeness of libraries, about their job description. Common answers were sought by evaluating how librarians started their profession, their situation regarding their role in professional activities, the advantages and disadvantages of the profession, the employment issues of the profession, their thoughts about professional competence and professional concerns. It turns out that most librarians have difficulty in making the definition of a profession. In addition to professional activities, the main reasons for the lack of professional commitment have been determined. The opinions of librarians regarding professional competence and their perspectives that can enable the development of the profession were also collected. With the analysis of the data obtained, common points related to the problems in the formation of professional commitment of librarians and the definition of the profession were determined, and the problems that were felt in the scope of professional commitment were determined. It has been tried to reveal the problems related to the profession from the eyes of librarians and the perspectives of librarians to their profession have formed the content of the thesis. These study findings are thought to be a guide to librarianship profession studies.
