Kıbrıs politikalarında lider Rauf Denktaş’ın rolü

Abstract

Rauf Raif Denktaş, 20. Yüzyıl siyasi tarihinde Kıbrıs davasında üstlendiği rol ile bir ekol haline gelmiş liderdir. Rauf Denktaş, Kuzey Kıbrıs Türk Cumhuriyeti’nin kuruluşunda üstlendiği siyasi rol ile sadece bölgesel değil uluslararası alanda bir aktör haline gelmiştir. Ancak Denktaş, siyasi hayatı boyunca anavatanı olarak gördüğü Türkiye’nin desteğine duyduğu ihtiyacı her fırsatta dile getirirken, bölge ile tarihi ve duygusal bağları olan Türkiye de Kıbrıs sorunu ve Denktaş’la yakından ilgili olmuştur. Denktaş’ı liderlik alanında bir ekol haline getiren nedenlerin başında, savunduğu davaya olan bağlılığının yanı sıra, uluslararası alanda tanınmayan bir devletin temsilcisi olarak, büyük devletlere karşı durması oldu. Hukuk bilgisi ve güçlü hitabet yeteneğini her fırsatta kullanan Denktaş, uluslararası görüşmelerdeki kusursuz İngilizcesi ile kendini çok iyi ifade etti. Türkiye ile olan ilişkilerinde, uzun yıllar Türkiye’de ki asker-sivil ilişkilerini çok iyi dengeleyip, Anavatanın desteğini almıştır.

Rauf Raif Denktaş is a leader who became an idol with the role he shouldered in Cyprus issue in the 20th century. The political role he played in the foundation of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus made him not only a regional but also an international character. As a matter of fact, Denktaş had always put it into words that he needed the support of Turkey, which he considered to be a motherland; while Turkey, which has historical and sentimental bonds with the region, had and has always been closely connected with the Cyprus issue and Denktaş in return. The primary reason which made Denktaş an idol in leadership is actually the fact that he confronted the big countries as a representative of an unrecognised country and also his loyalty to the cause he defended. Denktaş who made use of his law knowledge and rhetoric at every opportunity had always expressed himself very well with his flawless English at international negotiations. He always gained the support of the Motherland due to his well-balanced relations with civil and military authorities in Turkey for a long period of time.
