When providing care, it is very important for the nurse to understand the patient, to manage his/her emotions, to empathize, and communicate with the patient effectively. In order to achieve this, nurses primarily need to aware of, express, and manage their own feelings and develop skills of empathy. Because the use of these developed skills in occupational practices would increase the quality of care, it is important to make these skills gained during training period. In this review, affective domain skills of nursing students in their undergraduate education were reviewed in the light of current literature. © 2016, Logos Medical Publishing. All rights reserved.
