Turkish version of the McGill Melzack Pain Questionnaire Form (MPQF) [McGill Melzack Aǧri Soru Formu'nun (MASF) türkçe'ye uyarlanmasi]

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to assess the validity and reliability of the Turkish version of the Mc Gill Melzack Pain Questionnaire Form (MPQF) for the population in Turkey. In the first stage, the instrument was translated into Turkish. In the second stage, a specialist was translated the instrument back into English. After the review of consultants, the final form of the scale was applied to 98 postoperative patients. The data collected from this sample was used in the evaluation of the reliability and validity of the form. To test these characteristics item-total score correlation, cronbach alpha coefficient and rotation of the factor matrix were used. The accounted reliability of coefficiency with cronbach alpha was found 0.98 for the research population. The item reliability coefficients of the form parts were between 0.52 and 0.72 for the second part, 0.50 and 0.70 for the third part, 0.50 and 0.58 for the fourth part.
