Kerek Müzesi’nde bulunan Bahrî Memlükler’e ait yayımlanmamış gümüş sikkeler

Abstract

Kerek Müzesi'nde tamamı Bahrî Memlükler (648 – 784 / 1250 – 1382) dönemineait daha önce çalışılmamış 19 yeni sikke koleksiyonu vardır. Koloksiyonu oluşturan bu710 gümüş sikke, Ürdün Eski Eserler Genel Müdürlüğü ( دائرة الآثار العامة الأردنية ) tarafındanfarklı dönemlerde, farklı kişilerden satın alınmıştır. Bu çalışmada söz konusu 710sikkeden 686’sı incelenmiş, yüzü silinmiş olan 24 sikke inceleme dışı bırakılmıştır.Çalışmanın amacı, genelde İslâm sikkeleri ve özelde Bahrî Memlükler dönemi sikkelerihakkındaki bilginin artmasına katkı sağlamaktır. Bunu gerçekleştirmek için çalışmakonusu ile alakalı Türk, Arap ve yabancı kaynaklara ve araştırmalara başvurulmuştur.Çalışma konusu sikkeler, önce sultanlara göre temel bir sınıflandırmaya, ardından sikkekategorilerine göre ikincil bir sınıflandırmaya tabi tutulup, darphaneye ve basıldığı tarihegöre düzenlenmiştir. Ayrıca sikkeler, uluslararası araştırmalar ve kaynaklardaki benzerleriile karşılaştırılmış; sikkenin bileşenleri, saflık derecesi ve kalitesini belirlemek için X-ışınıfloresansı teknolojisi kullanarak analiz edilmiştir. Çalışma birkaç sonuç ortayaçıkarmıştır; Bahrî Memlükler dönemi sikkelerinin yeni tiplerini tanıtmış, ayrıca,sikkelerin ölçümlerdeki dalgalanmalara maruz kalan sikkelerin ayar kalitesini ortayaçıkarmıştır. Bunun yanı sıra, Bahrî Memlük darphaneleri için bir kısmı dışarıdan bir kısmıda içerden olmak üzere çok sayıda gümüş kaynağının olduğunu tespit etmiştir. Çalışma,Orta Çağ’daki gümüş kaynaklarına dair çalışmaları ele almayı, bu konuda güvenilebilecekkaynakların yetersizliği nedeniyle, Memlük piyasalarında tedavülde bulunan yabancısikkelerin ayar kalitesi ile ilgili çalışmaların yapılmasını önermektedir.

In the Karak Museum, there are 19 new sets of coins that are not studied yet. It consistsof 710 silver coins dated back to the Bahri Mamluks era (648 – 784 / 1250 – 1382). Thesesets of coins were bought by The Jordanian Department of Antiquities (DOA) fromdifferent people during different periods. In this study, 686 out of 710 coins were studied,whereby 24 coins free of inscriptions were excluded. The study aims to improve theknowledge about Islamic coins in general and to be precise the coins used during theMamluk era. To achieve the aim of the study, it relied on Arabic, Turkish, and Westernreferences which are related to the subject of the study. The sample coins were classifiedmainly according to the Sultans. Other minor categorizations were according to thedenomination of coins, and how it is listed and described according to the place and datethese coins were struck. Moreover, the analysis of the sample coins was compared withother international references and periodicals that the researcher was able to find. Theanalysis of quantity and degree of purification was analyzed using an x-ray. The mainresults from this study were knowing new types of coins used in Bahri Mamluk, the extentof disturbance on Mamluk coinage due to the inaccuracy of sizes and purifications ofsamples of the study, and various resources of silver imported to the place of mint in BahriMamluk era either international or local. The study recommends further studies to beconducted on the resources of silver during the middle age, purification, and quality offoreign coins used during the Bahri Mamluk era and that is due to the lack of these studiesin the field.
