Türkiye’de lisansüstü coğrafya eğitiminin incelenmesi

Abstract

TÜRKİYE’DE LİSANSÜSTÜ COĞRAFYA EĞİTİMİNİN İNCELENMESİ Yapılan bu çalışmada Türkiye’deki lisansüstü coğrafya eğitiminin mevcut durumu ele alınmış ve halihazırdaki durum ortaya çıktıktan sonra da küresel bağlamda uyum için hangi noktalarda, neler yapılabilir ortaya koyulmaya çalışılmıştır. Hedeflenen amaç doğrultusunda, araştırmanın nitel bölümünde Türkiye’de lisansüstü eğitimi düzenleyen yasa ve yönetmelikler incelenmiş, alanında uzman akademisyenlerle mülakatlar yapılmış ve örneklem olarak seçilen üniversitelerin yüksek lisans ve doktora programları, özellik, süre, yapı ve hedef kitlesi açısından incelenerek ülkemizdeki lisansüstü eğitimin genel yapısı ortaya konulmuştur. Araştırmanın nicel kısmında ise uzman görüşleri alınarak oluşturulan anket uygulanmış ve sonuçları SPSS programıyla değerlendirilmiştir. Sonuç olarak, Türkiyede tanımı tam olarak yapılamamış olsada bir akademik kalite problemi olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Ayrıca, Türkiye’de lisansüstü eğitim süreçlerine dair de ciddi eksiklerin olduğu görülmüştür. Çalışmanın sonuç bölümünde; tespit edilen bu sorunlar ile ilgili olarak çeşitli önerilere yer verilmiştir.

EXAMINATION OF POSTGRADUATE GEOGRAPHY EDUCATION IN TURKEY This study included the current situation of higher education in geography and tried to explain the solutions to the problems faced in order to raise the quality of geography education to the global standards. For this purpose, the geography education curricula of some departments in Turkish universities, and laws regulating the higher education in Turkey, were examined in the qualitative part of the study. Thus, the current situation of the laws and standards were showed in terms of some properties, duration, structure and targets. Besides, in the quantitative part of the study, a questionannaire was applied to the sample including faculty members and post graduate students from geography departments. The results were analysed by using SPSS software. Finally, an undefinable academic quality problem was determined at the end of the study. Furthermore, some vital lacks were found related to post graduate education in Turkey. Some suggestion were given in the conclusion section of the study.
