Abstract
In this study, it is aimed to examine Rashid Riza's Dawah and Irshad School project designed for the reform (ıslâh) of higher Islamic education (madrasah) in terms of religious education. Rashid Riza made great efforts while he was in Istanbul for the implementation of the project in Istanbul (October 1909-November 1910), he met with many people from the state request and the thinkers of the period, but he did not succeed in the project to start in Istanbul. A detailed regulation and syllabus were prepared by Rashid Riza for the school that started its activities in Cairo in 1912 and was published in the journal al-Menar. The study includes the evaluation of the activities and writings of Rashid Riza related to the school and especially the process he spent in Istanbul. In this sense, Rashid Riza's Dawah and Irshad School project was compared with the views of the thinkers of the period about the reform (ıslâh) of madrasah, and the interaction of Dar al-Funun between Ulum al-Şar’iyya Branch and Madrasah al-Waizin was tried to be examined.
