Çevre etiği bağlamında çevre sorunlarına bakmak : halk ve öğrenciler neler düşünüyor?

Abstract

ÖZETÇEVRE ETİĞİ BAĞLAMINDA ÇEVRE SORUNLARINA BAKMAK:HALK VE ÖĞRENCİLER NELER DÜŞÜNÜYOR?Yaşadığımız çevre gün geçtikçe daha fazla tahribata uğramaktadır. İnsanlığın çevreye olan zararları nedeniyle çevrenin kendini yenileme gücü azalmaktadır. Doğanın kendini yenileme gücünün azalması tüm bireyleri etkilemektedir. Bu nedenle de bireylerin, toplumların ve ilgili tarafların harekete geçmesi büyük bir önem arz etmektedir. Bu noktada çevre tahribatının önlenebilmesinde, her bir bireyin, doğayı geri dönüşü imkânsızbüyük tehlikelerden koruyarak, sürdürülebilir bir yaşam anlayışı içerisinde olaraksağlayabilmesiyle mümkün olabilmektedir. Bu bakımdan doğru adımlar atarak bireysel daha sonrasında toplumsal olarak olumlu değişimler sağlamak önemlidir. İnsanlık var oluşundan itibaren doğa ile iç içe olan bir varlıktır. Bu iç içeliği temelinde bir bakıma doğaya olan ihtiyaçtan kaynaklanmaktadır. Bu durum beslenme, barınma, güvenlik gibi hayati olan ihtiyaçların temelini oluşturmaktadır. İnsanın var olabilmesinin temelini sağlayan doğa, kendi kendine var olabilmesi ile kendini eşsiz, biricik ve özel kılmaktadır. Doğa, kendi kendini yenileyebilir, geliştirebilir ve kendi en mükemmel şekilde yine kendisinin karşılayabileceği, mucizevi bir sistemdir. Fakat insanoğlu bunun karşısında kendi kendine yeterli gelememektedir. Temiz suya, havaya, toprağa ihtiyacı fazladır. Yaşamı doğaya bağlı olan bir varlık olarak insan, doğaya gün geçtikçe daha da fazla zarar vermektedir.İnsan ve doğa arasındaki ilişkiye bilimsel ya da teknolojik açıdan bakmanın yanı sıra felsefik ve etik bağlamda sorgulama yapmamız gerekmektedir. Bu sorgulama sistematiğinde ise çevre etiği kavramı karşımıza çıkmaktadır. Çevre etiği sistematiği doğa ile insan arasındaki ilişkiye farklı ve çok boyutlu bakış açısı ile incelemeye çalışmaktadır. Bu bakış açısı ile insanın doğa ile arasındaki ilişkinin hangi boyutta ve nasıl olduğunu bize göstermektedir. Bu boyut ile çevre sorunlarının çözülebilmesine yardımcı olabilmektedir. Bu çalışmanın temel amacını ise, halkın ve üniversite öğrencilerinin çevre sorunlarına dair düşüncelerinin çevre etiği bağlamında incelenmesini içermektedir. Bu amaç sonucunda çevre etiği bağlamında hangi noktada olduğumuz bizi bu sorunların kaynağına ve çözümüne ulaşabilmemizi sağlayabilecektir. Böylece çevre sorunlarına karşı bireysel düşüncelerin neler olduğu; bu düşüncelerden yola çıkarak çevre eğitiminin önemininortaya çıkarılması sağlanabilecektir. Bu amaç doğrultusunda örneklem; 2019-2020 Vakademik öğretim yılında farklı bölümlerde ve üniversitelerde öğrenim gören 100 yükseköğretim öğrencisi ile halktan 100 birey olmak üzere toplamda 200 katılımcıdan oluşmaktadır. Araştırma, öğrencilerin ve halkın çevre etiği bağlamında çevre sorunlarına karşı düşüncelerinin belirlenmesi adına nitel araştırma yöntem ve tekniklerinden durum çalışması desenine göre düzenlenmiştir. Araştırma verileri açık uçlu sorulardan oluşturulmuş olan yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formlarından oluşmaktadır. Bu yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formlarında açık uçlu sorulardan oluşmuş anket kullanılmıştır. Anketlerin çözümlenmesinde ise içerik analizi tekniğine uygun olarak çalışılmıştır. Yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formlarında, konu amacı doğrultusunda; Halkın ve üniversite öğrencilerinin; Çevre ile ilgili farkındalık seviyelerini ve aldıkları önlemleri Benimsedikleri çevre etiği anlayışı/ yaklaşım türünüHalkın ve üniversite öğrencileri arasındaki farklıların neler olduğuna dair cevaplar aranması amaçlanmaktadır.Araştırma bulgularında, yükseköğretim öğrencileri ve halkın çevre etiği bağlamında çevre sorunları ile ilgili düşüncelerinde; biyosentrik yaklaşım türüne yakın olduklarını göstermektedir. Halkın ve üniversite öğrencileri arasında ise çevre etiği türünde benzerlik olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Bulguların sonucunda, çevre eğitimine dair bazı önerilerde bulunulmaktadır.

ABSTRACTLOOKING AT ENVIRONMENTAL PROBLEMS IN THE CONTEXT OF ENVIRONMENTAL ETHICS: WHAT DO THE PUBLIC AND STUDENT THINK?The environment we live in is getting more and more damaged day by day. The selfrenewal power of the environment is decreasing due to the harms of humanity to the environment. The decrease in nature's power to renew itself affects all individuals. For this reason, it is of great importance that individuals, societies and interested parties take action. At this point, prevention of environmental destruction is only possible if each individual can protect nature from irreversible great dangers and provide it with a sustainable life understanding. In this respect, it is important to take the right steps to provide positive changes individually and then socially.Humanity is a being that is intertwined with nature since its existence. On the basis of this intertwining, in a way, it arises from the need for nature. This situation forms the basis of vital needs such as nutrition, shelter and security. Nature, which provides the basis for human existence, makes itself unique, unique and special with its own existence. Nature is a great, miraculous system that can renew itself, develop and meet its own needs in the most perfect way. But human beings are not self-sufficient in the face of it. It needs clean water, clean air and clean soil. As a being whose life depends on nature, man is harming nature more and more day by day.In addition to looking at the relationship between human and nature from a scientific or technological point of view, we need to make inquiries in a philosophical and ethical context. In this systematic of inquiry, the concept of environmental ethics emerges. Environmental ethics systematics tries to examine the relationship between nature and human with a different and multidimensional perspective. With this point of view, it shows us what dimension and how the relationship between man and nature is. With this dimension, it can help to solve environmental problems.The main purpose of this study is to examine the thoughts of the public and university students on environmental problems in the context of environmental ethics. In this context, it is aimed to evaluate the perspectives of the public and students on environmental problems and to determine the point they are based on in environmental ethics. As a result of this purpose, it will enable us to reach the source and solution of environmental VIIproblems, at which point we are in the context of environmental ethics. Thus, it will be possible to reveal the individual thoughts about environmental problems and the importance of environmental education based on these thoughts. For this purpose, the sample; It consists of 100 higher education students studying at different departments and universities in the 2019-2020 academic year, and a total of 200 participants, 100 individuals from the public. The research was organized according to the case study pattern, which is one of the qualitative research methods and techniques, in order to determine the thoughts of the students and the public against environmental problems in the context of environmental ethics. The research data consists of semi-structured interview forms formed from open-ended questions. A questionnaire consisting of openended questions was used in these semi-structured interview forms. In the analysis of the questionnaires, the content analysis technique was used. In semi-structured interview forms, in line with the purpose of the subject; The public and university students;Environmental awareness levels and the measures they takeThe type of environmental ethics understanding/ approach they adoptIt is aimed to seek answers about what are the differences between the public and university students.In the research findings, in the thoughts of higher education students and the public about environmental problems in the context of environmental ethics; shows that they are close to the biocentric approach type. It has been concluded that there is a similarity in the type of environmental ethics between the public and university students. As a result of the findings, some suggestions are made about environmental education.
