Osmanlı dönemi kadın giyim kuşamında Avrupa etkileri

Abstract

Osmanlı Devleti’nde Avrupa etkileri 17. yüzyılda başlamış ve 18. yüzyılda etkisini yoğun olarak değişik alanlarda yansıtmıştır. 18. Yüzyıl Osmanlı Devleti’nin sıkıntılı bir dönemidir, bu nedenle kurtuluş Avrupa’da aranmıştır. Özellikle; askeri, toplumsal, sosyal, siyasi ve kültürel alanlarda Avrupa örnek alınmıştır. 18. yüzyılda Osmanlı Devlet’inin girdiği gerileme döneminden kurtulma çabaları öncelikle askeri alanda değişimi başlatmış, ardından toplumsal değişimler izlenmiştir. Toplumsal değişimlerden öncelikle kadınlar etkilenmiş, Avrupa yaşam biçimini örnek alan Osmanlı kadınları yeni giyim stilleri ile sosyal alanlarda kendilerini göstermeye başlamışlardır. Yüzyılın sonlarına doğru kadınların bu çıkışı hükümeti rahatsız etmiş, hükümet için önemli bir mesele haline gelen “kadın giyim ve kuşamı” fermanlarla düzenlenmiştir. Bu dönemde, Avrupa ise; askeri zaferlerin memnun edici sonuçlarını yaşamakta, coğrafi keşifler, Rönesans ve bilimdeki ilerlemeler sayesinde hızlı bir gelişme göstemektedir. Tüm gelişmeler, doğal olarak; sosyal hayatı ve kadın giyim kuşamını da etkilemiş ve Avrupa kadın kıyafetleri tüm zarafet, renk, çizgi ve stilleriyle ön plana çıkmıştır. Kadınlar saraylı ve asiller gibi giyinmeye çalışıp, Paris ve İngiliz modasını takip ederek, ince zevkin ürünü olan kumaşları kıyafetlerinde yaygın olarak kullanılmışlardır. Tercih edilen mücevherler, saç düzenlemelerinde kullanılan şapkalar, aksesuarlar, broşlar ve süslü ayakkabılar Osmanlı dönemi kadınlarının giyim ve kuşamlarını da etkilemiş, kadınlar sosyal yaşamlarında bu değişimi sergilemekten çekinmemişlerdir. Özetle Osmanlı kadını; bu dönemde yaşanan toplumsal değişimler karşısında, geçmişten beri kullandıkları ferace, yaşmak, şalvar, bel kuşakları ve baş süslemesinde yer alan hotoz gibi giyim kuşam detaylarını, Avrupa kadın modasına göre yeniden tasarlayarak kullanmaya başlamıştır. Avrupa da yaşanan bilimsel ve toplumsal ilerlemeler karşısında Osmanlı Devleti’nin 18. yüzyılda Batıyı örnek alma çabaları ilerlemiş olsa da bütün bu etkilenmeler saray tarafından belli bir ölçüde tutulmuş ve gerçek anlamda bir yenileşme hareketi yaşanamamıştır.

The European influence on Ottoman Empire started in the 17th century and had an intensive effect on various fields in the 18th century. The 18th century is a clouded period for Ottoman Empire for that reason, they tried to find find a solution in Europe. Europeans inspired Ottomans especially in military, social, politics and cultural fields. In 18th century, the salvation attempts by the Ottoman Empire for the regression period started the changes in military field and then the social changes followed them. The social changes affected mainly the Ottoman women and the women who were influenced by European lifestyle, showed themselves up in social areas with their new clothing style. Towards the end of 18th century, this rise by women annoyed the Ottoman Empire and the woman clothing and style which turned into a serious issue for them were regulated by rescripts. In this period, the Europeans enjoyed the satisfying results of military the conquests and they experienced fast paced developments thanks to geographical explorations, Renaissance and the developments in the science. As a matter of course, all of these developments influenced the social life and women's clothing style and European woman dresses stood out by all elegance, lines, colors and style they had. The women tried to dress up like the courts and aristocrats, used the fabrics of elegant tastes in on their clothes mainly by following Paris and British fashion. The popular jewelleries and hats, accessories and brooches in hair styling and fancy schoes affected the Ottoman women's clothing style and the women didn't hesitate to show this change In their social lives. In conclusion, in accordance with the changes experienced in this period, the Ottoman women used the details like crest in their traditional ferace, yashmak, shalwar belly band and head ornaments by re-designing in accordance with European women fashion.. Although the attempts of sampling the Europe in 18th century by the Ottomans advanced through the scientific and social developments experienced in Europe, all of these inspirations were objected to limitations by the court and the innovation movements couldn't take place properly.
