Ortaöğretim coğrafya derslerinde doğal afetler konularının coğrafi bilgi sistemleri uygulamaları ile öğretimi

Abstract

ORTAÖĞRETİM COĞRAFYA DERSLERİNDE DOĞAL AFETLER KONULARIN CBS UYGULAMALARI İLE ÖĞRETİMİ Bu araştırmanın amacı 10. sınıf coğrafya derslerinde doğal afetler konularının Coğrafi Bilgi Sistemleri ile öğretimini gerçekleştirerek CBS’nin öğrencilerin akademik başarılarına etkisini incelemektir. Araştırma 2008 – 2009 eğitim – öğretim yılında İstanbul’un Sultanbeyli ilçesi, Hüsnü Özyeğin Lisesinde 10. sınıfta öğrenim gören 80 (40 klasik ders anlatımı, 40 CBS uygulaması) öğrenci ile yürütülmüştür. Öğrencilere ders öncesi ile sonrası sınav uygulanmış ve ders anlatımından yaklaşık 1 ay sonra unutma oranlarını belirlemek için tekrar sınav uygulaması yapılmıştır. Sonuçlar t testi ile analiz edilmiştir. TEACHING NATURAL DISASTERS SUBJECT IN SECONDARY EDUCATION GEOGRAPHY LESSONS USING GEOGRAPHY INFORMATION SYSTEM İMPLEMENTATİON (ArcGIS) The aim of this research is examine the effect of ArcGIS on students’ success by actualization of teaching natural disasters subject in 10th grade geography lessons with the use of Geography Information Systems. The research was carried out in Hüsnü Özyeğin High School in 2008-2009 academic year in the district of Sultanbeyli in İstanbul, with 80 students (40 students with conventional methods, 40 with ArcGIS implementation). Students were given a pre-test before the lesson and a post-test after the lesson. The results were assessed with t test. According to results of the research, the students which were instructed with ArcGIS implementation were found to be more successful than the other party.
