Publication: Vojta terapinin etkinliği
Abstract
In our study, we investigated the efficacy ofVojta Method in the rehabilitation of children with cerebral palsy (CP ). We included 30 children with CP aged between 0-5 years. The treatment group included 14 childre with CP and the other 15 were in the control group. The children in the treatment group regularly came to hospital one day in every wek for 6 months and were given the Vojta Metod's programs by the therapist. The children in the control group came one day in each month for 6 months and the programs of Vojta Method were instructed to the family. Both the treatment and the control groups were evaluated before and after the treatment with Gross Motor Function Measure (GMFM), Pediatric Functional Independency Criteria (WeeFİM) and Stimulating Position Reflexes. No significant difference was found between the treatment and the comtrol groups, but we saw that both groups had made remarkable progress with therapy. We recognized that after 6 months of therapy with Vojta Method, pathological reactions decreased, and gross motor function skills showed progress. We observed an increase in both bladder and bowel education, and also in the comprehension level of children. We saw that the increase in functional independence was better in hemiparetic and diparetic cases. As a result, we concluded that the Vojta Method is efficient in the children with CP (age: 0-5 ) as a rehabilitation programme.
