This study is concerned with the correct selection of features that will enable shape memory alloy/materials to be used an efficient, lightweight, silent actuators. Shape memory alloys (SHA) have good potential with their muscle-like working principles. SMA wires and springs are investigated whether they are capable of being used as actuators of a finger on a prosthetic hand. © 2018 IEEE.
