Abstract
TEZ ÖZETİ “Seyf b. Ömer ve Tarihçiliği” adını taşıyan bu çalışmada Seyf b. Ömer’in rivayetlerinin diğer tarihî kaynaklarla mukayese edilerek incelenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Seyf b. Ömer’in nakilleri, bu nakillere en geniş şekilde yer veren Taberî’nin Tarih’inden alınmıştır. Tez, bir giriş ve dört bölümden oluşmaktadır. Girişte kaynaklar belirtilmiş ve sonrasında Seyf b. Ömer’le ilgili doğrudan veya dolaylı çalışmalar ele alınmıştır. Birinci bölümde Seyf b. Ömer’in hayatına, eserlerine ve tarihçiliğine yer verilmiş; hocaları ile talebeleri zayıflık ve güvenilirliklerine göre tablo halinde verilmiştir. Son olarak Seyf’in tarihçi kimliği incelenmiş ardından hadis âlimlerinin ve diğer araştırmacıların Seyf’le ilgili görüşlerine yer verilmiştir. “Üsâme b. Zeyd Ordusunun Suriye’ye Gönderilmesi ve Ridde Savaşları” isimli ikinci kısımda ilk olarak Üsame’nin ordusunun Suriye’ye gönderilmesi ve irtidat tartışmaları ele alınmıştır. Daha sonra mürtedlerle yapılan savaşlara yer verilmiştir. Üçüncü kısımda fetihlerden bahsedilmiştir. Bu bölümde ilk olarak Hz. Ebu Bekir döneminde gerçekleşen Irak ve Suriye fetihleri ele alınmış ardından Hz. Ömer döneminde gerçekleşen Irak-İran, Suriye, Mısır ve Cezayir’in fetihlerine yer verilmiştir. Son olarak Hz. Osman devrinde gerçekleşen fetihlerden bahsedilmiştir. Hz. Osman’ın şehid edilmesiyle başlayan ve Cemel Vak‘ası’nı da içine alan olaylar ise çalışmanın dördüncü bölümünde ele alınmıştır. Bu kısımda ilk olarak Hz. Osman’ın şehid edilişi, Abdullah b. Sebe ve faaliyetleri merkeze oturtularak incelenmiştir. Ardından Hz. Ali’nin halife seçilmesi, yeni halifeye karşı Hz. Âişe önderliğinde oluşturulan muhalefet ve bu muhalefet sonucunda gerçekleşen Cemel savaşı ile ilgili rivayetlere değinilmiştir. Bu kısımda da diğer bölümlerde olduğu gibi Seyf b. Ömer’in rivayetleri diğer kaynaklarla mukayese edilerek değerlendirilmiş ve varılan sonuçlar maddeler halinde yazılmıştır.
OF THE THESIS This study titled as “Sayf b.‘Umar and His Identity As a Historian”, aimed to analyze Sayf b.‘Umar’s reports by comparing them with historical resources. Sayf b.‘Umar’s reports were taken from Ta’rikh of al-Tabarī which states his reports the most extensively. The thesis consists of one introduction and four sections. In the introduction part the sources were stated and then studies which directly or indirectly examined Sayf b.‘Umar are handled. The first section focused on ‘Umar’s life, works, his identity as a historian and the criticisms against him. After stating Sayf’s life and his works, it was tried to identify his scholarship life, and his students and teachers were given in a table according to their trustworthiness and weakness. Finally in this section Sayf’s historian-self was mentioned and then hadith scholars’ and other researchers’ thoughts about Sayf were stated. In the second section titled as “Move of Usāmah b. Zayd’s Army to Syria and Ridda Wars” firstly Usāmah’s move to Syria and discussions on abjuration were stated. Then the wars with murtads were handled. In the third section conquests were mentioned. Firstly conquests of Iraq and Syria in Hz. Abū Bakr’s period were mentioned. Afterwards conquests of Iraq-Iran, Syria, Egypt, and Al Jazeera in Hz. ‘Umar’s period were handled. At the end conquests which occurred during Hz. ‘Uthman’s period were discussed. The events which start with the murder of Hz. ‘Uthmān and include Camel War were mentioned in the fourth section. In this section firstly the murder of Hz. ‘Uthmān were discussed on the basis of ‘Abdallāh b. Sabā΄ and his activities. Later, the reports which relate to Hz. ‘Alī’s being elected caliphate, opposition leaded by Hz. ‘A’ishah against new caliphate, and Camel War which resulted in this opposition were stated. In this section Sayf b. ‘Umar’s reports were examined in comparison with other sources just as previous sections and the results were mentioned as entries.
