Abstract

The beta-Sn single crystals used in this study were melted and grown by the modified Bridgman technique under a vacuum of 10(-3) Torr, and oriented by the back-reflection Laue method. By applying the tensile test to the crystals whose orientations were determined, operative slip systems were found, and the relation between the crystals orientation and the slip systems was investigated. Where the crystal orientation was deviated from [110] direction, the slip systems were also changed and hence it was seen that slip modes depend on the direction of applied stress.
