Jungiyen bakış açısıyla bireyleşme sürecinde gölge arketipi ile yüzleşmek : Beyaz Kale örneği

Abstract

JUNGİYEN BAKIŞ AÇISIYLA BİREYLEŞME SÜRECİNDE GÖLGE ARKETİPİ İLE YÜZLEŞMEK: BEYAZ KALE ÖRNEĞİ Kişinin gözlemlenemeyen düşünme, algılama, güdülenme gibi zihinsel faaliyetlerini içeren psikoloji, bu faaliyetlerin bir ürünü olan iletişim ile yakından ilişkilidir. Kişilik bağlamında iletişim esnasında sergilenen tutum ve davranış, iletişimin sürdürülebilirliğini ve niteliğini belirler. Kişilerarası iletişimi etkileyen temel faktörlerden biri olan kişilik, sağlıklı bir gelişim gösterdiği takdirde, birey iç dünyası ve dış çevresiyle tutarlı bir ilişki biçimi sağlar. Bu noktada kişiliğin yapısını ve nasıl bir bütün haline getirileceğini incelemek iletişim açısından kritik bir önem taşır. Analitik psikolojinin kurucusu Jung, psişe olarak adlandırdığı kişiliği, bilinç ve bilinçdışı (kişisel ve kolektif) şeklinde ikiye ayırır. Psişenin doğrudan algılanan dış katmanını bilinç, bastırılan kişisel yaşantıların bulunduğu orta katmanı kişisel bilinçdışı ve kişisel yaşantının dışında, en derinde ve insanlığın tümünde ortak halde bulunan iç katmanını kolektif bilinçdışı olarak adlandırır. Jung ‘un kişilik kuramına göre kişiliğin bir bütün haline gelmesi olarak adlandırılan bireyleşme süreci, bilinç ve bilinçdışı bölümlerinin dengeli bir konuma getirilmesiyle gerçekleşir. Bireyleşme süreci, kişinin kendi iç merkeziyle bilinçli olarak karşı karşıya gelmesi ve kişiliğin yaralanması ile başlar. Öze doğru yolculuk süreci arketipsel sembollerle ifade edilir. Bu uzun ve zorlu yolda kişinin öncelikle yüzleşmesi ve tümleşmesi gereken arketipsel öge, gölgesidir. Gölge arketipi, kişiliğin toplum tarafından kabul görmeyen, ii benimsenmeyen, korkutucu ve karanlık yönüdür. Psişenin bütünlüğünün görünmez ve ayrılmaz tarafı olan gölge ile yüzleşildiği ölçüde ehlileştirilebilir. Gölge bilince taşınmaz ve bastırılırsa egodan daha fazla enerji biriktirerek öfke patlamaları ve depresyona neden olur. Gölge arketipiyle yüzleşmek ile başlayan bireyleşme süreci açık bir şekilde edebi metinlerde; kahramanın yolculuğa çıkması ve dönüşüme uğrayarak geri dönmesi şeklinde görülür. Teze konu olan bireyleşme sürecinde gölge arketipi yüzleşmesi ve dönüşümü, Orhan Pamuk’un Beyaz Kale adlı romanı ile analiz edilerek sunulacaktır. Adının ilk olarak “Gölgeler Kitabı” olarak tasarlandığı bilinen “Beyaz Kale” romanı, bireylerin gölgesi ile hesaplaşmasını konu edindiğinden dolayı, gölge yüzleşmesini ve dönüşümünü açıkça görmek adına iyi bir örnek olduğu düşünülmektedir. Eser arketiplere özgürce yer vermesi bakımından evrensel bir nitelik taşımaktadır. Bu tezde, “Beyaz Kale” romanının arketipsel analizi yapılarak gölge arketipi ile yüzleşmenin bireyleşme sürecine olan katkısını göstermek amaçlanmıştır. Jung’un analitik psikoloji kuramı çerçevesinde şekillenen bu tezde bireyleşme süreci, arketip, kolektif bilinçdışı ve psişe kavramlarından yararlanılmıştır. Bu tezde arketipsel eleştiri yöntemi kullanılacaktır. Arketipsel eleştiri, edebi eserdeki arketip kullanımlarını tespit ederek bunların işlevini metnin estetik değerini göz ardı etmeden değerlendirmeyi ve edebi metni yeniden anlamlandırmayı amaçlayan bir yöntemdir. Bu tez, konusu gereği kişilerarası iletişim alanında var olan literatür eksikliğinin, öncülüğünü yapacağı başka çalışmalarla giderilmesi planlanmaktadır. Bu tez okunduğu takdirde gölge arketipi sorgulamasına neden olacağından dolayı bireyleşme sürecini anlamlandırmada kişisel olarak bir rehber niteliği taşıyacaktır. Okuyucuyu, edebi metinleri arketipsel bir gözle incelemeye yönlendirerek bakış açısını genişletecektir.

FACING THE SHADOW ARCETYPE IN THE PROCESS OF INDIVIDUALIZATION FROM THE JUNGIAN PERSPECTIVE: THE CASE OF THE WHITE CASTLE Psychology, which includes mental activities such as unobservable thinking, perception and motivation, is closely related to communication, which is a product of these activities. In the context of personality, the attitude and behavior exhibited during communication determine the sustainability and quality of communication. Personality, which is one of the main factors affecting interpersonal communication, provides a consistent form of relationship with the individual's inner world and external environment, if it develops in a healthy way. At this point, it is critical for communication to examine the structure of the personality and how it will be integrated. The founder of analytical psychology, Jung, divides the personality, which he calls the psyche, into conscious and unconscious (personal and collective). He calls the directly perceived outer layer of the psyche as consciousness, the middle layer of suppressed personal experiences as the personal unconscious, and the inner layer of the psyche, which is the deepest and common to all of humanity, outside of personal life, as the collective unconscious. According to Jung's theory of personality, the individuation process, which is called the integration of the personality, takes place by bringing the conscious and unconscious parts into a balanced position. The process of individuation begins with a conscious confrontation with one's inner center and injury to the personality. The journey towards the essence is expressed in archetypal symbols. The archetypal element that one must first face and integrate on this long iv and difficult path is the shadow. The shadow archetype is the scary and dark side of the personality that is not accepted by the society. It can be tamed to the extent that it is confronted with the shadow, which is the invisible and inseparable side of the integrity of the psyche. If the shadow is not carried into consciousness and is suppressed, it will accumulate more energy from the ego, causing outbursts of anger and depression. The individuation process, which begins with confronting the shadow archetype, is clearly in literary texts; It is seen as the hero going on a journey and returning by being transformed. The shadow archetype transformation in the individuation process, which is the subject of the thesis, will be presented by analyzing Orhan Pamuk's novel called Beyaz Kale. The novel White Castle, which is known to have been originally designed as the Book of Shadows, is thought to be a good example for clearly seeing shadow transformation, as it deals with individuals' coming to terms with their shadow. The work has a universal quality in that it freely includes archetypes. In this thesis, it is aimed to show the contribution of transforming the shadow archetype to the individuation process by making an archetypal analysis of the novel White Castle. In this thesis, which was shaped within the framework of Jung's analytical psychology theory, the concepts of individuation process, archetype, collective unconscious and psyche were used. In this thesis, archetypal criticism method will be used. Archetypal criticism is a method that aims to identify the archetypal uses in the literary work, evaluate their function without ignoring the aesthetic value of the text, and re-meaning the literary text. Due to the subject of this thesis, it is planned to eliminate the lack of literature in the field of interpersonal communication with other studies that will be pioneered. If this thesis is read, it will personally serve as a guide in making sense of the individuation process, as it will cause the shadow archetype to be questioned. It will broaden the reader's perspective by directing the reader to examine literary texts with an archetypal eye.
