Abstract
Bu araştırmanın amacı, Türkiye’de yabancı öğrenci statüsünde eğitim_x000D_
alan Suriyeli üniversite öğrencilerinin üniversite deneyimlerine ilişkin görüşlerini incelemektir. Araştırma, nitel araştırma yaklaşımlarından tekli durum deseni ile tasarlanmıştır. Çalışma grubu, bir devlet üniversitesinde eğitim gören_x000D_
14 gönüllü Suriyeli üniversite öğrencisinden oluşmuştur. Çalışmanın verileri,_x000D_
yüz yüze görüşme yoluyla ve yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formu kullanılarak_x000D_
elde edilmiştir. Araştırmada toplanan veriler, içerik analizi ile çözümlenmiştir._x000D_
Veriler şu dört ana tema altında toplanmıştır: Suriyeli öğrencilere üniversite tarafından verilen destekler, deneyimlenen sorunlar, Suriyeli öğrencilerin üniversite_x000D_
bileşenleri ile ilişkileri, üniversiteye ilişkin önerileri. Elde edilen bulgulara göre_x000D_
katılımcılar; üniversiteye uyum sürecinde dil sorunu ile karşılaşmakta, alanlarında bilgi eksikliği hissetmekte, Türk öğrencilerle kaynaşma sorunu yaşamakta_x000D_
ve konaklama konusunda ihtiyaçlarını gidermekte zorlanmaktadır. Katılımcılar,_x000D_
harç yatırmamaları dışında üniversiteden herhangi bir maddi destek almadıklarını belirtmiştir. Ayrıca katılımcılar; üniversitedeki Türk öğrencilerle, öğretim_x000D_
üyeleriyle ve öğrenci işleri çalışanlarıyla ilişkilerinde bazı sorunlar yaşadıklarını_x000D_
ifade etmişlerdir.
This study aims to examine the university experience of Syrian students registered to a public university in Turkey. It was designed as a single case study,_x000D_ one of the qualitative research designs. The study group consisted of 14 volunteer Syrian university students studying at a public university. Content analysis was used to analyze the data collected through semi-structured face-to-face_x000D_ interviews. The findings were clustered under four main themes: problems experienced, institutional support given for Syrian students, interactions with the_x000D_ internal stakeholders of the university and suggestions given by Syrian students._x000D_ According to the findings, Syrian university students experienced a language_x000D_ barrier and there was a serious knowledge gap compared to their Turkish peers._x000D_ Moreover, they seem to experience some problems in interacting with their peers_x000D_ and in finding proper accommodation. The participants stated that they did not_x000D_ receive any financial support from the university except that they did not pay_x000D_ fees. The participants mentioned that they had some problems in their relations_x000D_ with the Turkish students at the university, the faculty members and the student_x000D_ affairs officers.
