1924-1934 yılları arasında Cumhuriyet Gazetesi örneği üzerinden Türkiye'deki din algısı ve değişimi

Abstract

Din algısı ve değişimi, sosyal bilimler alanında hem müstakil hem de ilişkilendirilerek ele alınan, kökleri geçmişe dayalı ama etkisi hâlâ devam eden bir alandır. Yine, dinamik yapısı itibariyle ancak geçmişe atıfla tam bir bütünlük arz edebilen, öncesi bilinmeden şimdiki hali eksik kalacak bir çalışma sahasıdır. Gazete gibi süreli yayınlar, bizim geçmişte dinin birey ve toplum üzerindeki rolünü, dinî söylemler ve bu söylemlerdeki değişimi tespit için elimizdeki en önemli birincil kaynaklardandır. Cumhuriyet gazetesinin özellikle bu dönemi ise; yönetim erkini elinde bulunduranların fikrî yapısını yansıtması, Türkiye Cumhuriyeti tarihinin din referanslı en önemli sosyal ve siyasî olaylarını -hilafetin ilgası, tevhid-i tedrisât, şer’iyye ve evkâf vekâletinin lağvı, şapka kanunu, harf inkılabı, Türkçe ibadet meselesi ve dinî söylemli isyanlar gibi- kapsaması, yazılar vasıtasıyla dönemin seçkinlerinin, haberler/ röportajlar ile de halkın din algısını yansıtabilen birincil el kaynak olması ve hem dönemin basın dünyasının nabzını tutması hem de yeni rejimin sözcüsü olması hasebiyle toplu bir bakış açısı sunabilmesi dolayısıyla bu çalışmada esas alınmıştır. Din algısı ve değişimi bu çalışmada, bir gazete bağlamında hem toplumsal hem de bireysel düzlemde incelenmiştir. Gazetenin ideolojik söyleminin yanı sıra içeriğinin katkısı da bu bireysel algı ve değişimini anlamayı kolaylaştırmıştır.

The perception of religion and its change is a field that has root in the past but still continues to be effective, both independently and in association in the field of social sciences. Due to its dynamic structure, it is a field of study that can only provide a complete integrity with reference to the past and its current state will be incomplete without knowing the past. Periodicals such as newspapers are the most important primary sources we have in order to determine the role of religion on individuals and society, religious discourses and the change in these discourses in the past. The reason why this study is focused on this period of Cumhuriyet Newspaper is that it reflects the intellectual structure of those who hold the adminisrative power; keeps the pulse of the press of the period and offers a collective perspective as a spokesperson of the new regime; reflects the religious perception of the elite of the period through articles and the people through news/ interviews and covers the most important social and political events with religious references in the history of the Republic of Turkey like abolition of the caliphate, the uniformity of education, abolition of şer’iye and waqfs, the issue of Turkish worship, rebellions with religious discourse. In this study, the perception and change of religion is examined in the context of a newspaper both at the social and individual level. In addition to the ideological discourse of the newspaper, the contribution of its content made it easier to understand this individual perception and its change.
