Abstract
In the research, which started with the problem of whether socialization on digital media, which is called social media by individuals, is a real socialization, why socialization in digital media is not real socialization is explained based on Cengiz Anik's Epistemic Model in the Individual, Society and Information Triangle and Baudrillard's Simulation Theory. The literature review was conducted with the reality, social media, social media comments, social network, Instagram, reality perception. As a result, it has been determined that in many theses, reality is told through Baudrillard and the perception of reality in digital media is evaluated in the context of perception management and fake news through news. However, the point to be highlighted in this thesis is what people share with each other through these networks, how much of these shares contain their true thoughts and how honest they are with each other. This situation has been tried to be examined with the digital ethnography method. It is accepted that digital ethnography, which is a method of data collection and analysis, is valid and safe, and it is also assumed that the sample represents the research population and this method will be sufficient for data collection. As a result of the research, the magic mirror approach was introduced. While it is stated that the concept of socialization in digital media is a simulation, the aim of the thesis is to reveal the approach that Instagram, one of the information sharing platforms where socialization simulation is most actively experienced, acts as a magic mirror that tells individuals only what they want to hear as a result of this simulation. The importance of the thesis is that the researcher put forward the magic mirror approach for the first time with the assumption that the concept of magic mirror exists.
