Lise 1. sınıf biyoloji ders programında ‘’çevre kirliliği ve önlemleri’’ ile ilgili kavramlar, öğrenci bilgileri ve tutumları

Abstract

Bu çalışmanın amacı lise öğrencilerinin çevre kirliliği hakkında bilgileri ve çevre kirliliğine karşı tutumlarını belirlemektir. Türkiye'de çevre kirliliği konusu lise1 Biyoloji dersinde işlenmektedir. Bu nedenle çalışma İstanbul ilinde, beş farklı lisede, 270 öğrenci ile yürütülmüştür. Lise 1. Biyoloji ders programında yer alan çevre kirliliği ile ilgili kavramlar belirlenerek kavramlar arasındaki bağlantıları gösteren bir kavram haritası hazırlanmıştır. Hazırlanan kavram haritası yardımıyla bir bilgi testi oluşturulmuştur. Öğrencilerin çevre kirliliğine duyarlılığını, farkındalılığını ve çevre kirliliğini önlemeye yönelik tutumlarını belirlenmek için bir de tutum testi hazırlanmıştır. Yapılan istatistiksel analizler, öğrencilerde kavramsal öğrenmenin oluşmamış olduğunu, öğrencilerin çevre kirliliği hakkında bilgilerinin eksik ve diğer çevre konularıyla bağlantısız olduğunu göstermiştir. Tutum testi analizleri öğrencilerin çevre kirliliğini önemsediklerini ancak çevre kirliliğini önlemeye yönelik davranışları sergilemediklerini göstermiştir. Bu bulgular, lisede uygulanan çevre eğitiminin yeterli kavramsal öğrenmeyi ve hedeflenen davranış değişimlerini gerçekleştiremediğini göstermiştir. Bilgi arttıkça öğrencilerde olumlu tutumlar geliştiği de gözlenmiştir. Değişik liselerin öğrencileri üzerinde yapılan çalışmalar, liseler arasında çevre konularında en başarılı olan öğrencilerin Anadolu lisesi öğrencileri olduğunu ve en olumlu çevre tutumuna meslek lisesi öğrencilerinin sahip olduğunu göstermiştir.

The aim of this study is to determine the knowledge and the attitudes of lise students for environmental pollution. Environmental pollution is one of the subject in Biology course of Turkish lise (high school) program. Therefore the study has been carried out on 270 lise 1 students at five different lises in Istanbul. The concepts related to environmental pollution which take place in the lise 1 Biology curriculum were determined and a concept map showing the links among the concepts was prepared. An attitude test to determine the students' sensitivity, awareness and prevention of pollution was also prepared. Statistical analysis showed that the students' conceptual learning has not being developed, the students' knowledge about environmental pollution was incomplete and disconnected to the other environmental issues. The result of the analysis of the attitude test showed that the students consider the environmental pollution is important, but they do not exhibit the behaviors and attitudes to prevent environmental pollution. These findings showed the environmental education in lise is not sufficient to develop conceptual learning and aimed behavior changes. It is also observed that when knowledge increase a positive attitude in the students develops. The studies on the students in different lise types showed that among them the students of the Anadolu lisesi (Anatolian high school) most successful in environmental issues. And the students of meslek lisesi (Vocational studies) have most positive attitudes towards environment.
