Abstract

MODERNLEŞME VE HEGEMONYA: İNGİLTERE, AMERİKA BİRLEŞİK DEVLETLERİ VE ÇİN ÖRNEKLERİNİN KARŞILAŞTIRMALI ANALİZİ Bu tezde modernleşme ve hegemonya arasındaki ilişki incelenmiştir. Devletlerin modernleşme ve hegemonya kurma süreçlerinin birbirine bağlı olduğunu düşündüğümüzden çalışmamızda bütüncül bir bakış açısı kullanılmış ve bu iki süreç iç içe geçmiş süreçler olarak ele alınmıştır. Bu çalışmanın amacı, İngiltere, Amerika Birleşik Devletleri ve Çin’in modernleşme ve hegemonya kurma süreçlerini inceleyerek bu üç devletin farklı modernleşme yollarının onların hegemonya kurma süreçlerine ve hegemonyalarını kurduktan sonra dünya-sistemini yeniden organize etme çabalarına etkilerini analiz etmektir. MODERNIZATION AND HEGEMONY: COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF THE CASES OF ENGLAND, USA AND CHİNA In this thesis, the relationship between hegemony and modernization was examined. Since I think that modernization processes of states and their hegemony-building processes are interconnected, a holistic approach was used and these two processes were examined as combined processes in my work. The aim of this work was to analyze different modernization paths of England, the USA and China and effects of these different modernization processes on their hegemony-building processes and their efforts of reorganizing the world-system after establishing their hegemony by examining the relation of modernization and hegemony-building processes of these three states. Examination was handled by using the theoretical framework of World-Systems Analysis and various modernization theories together.
