Kent ve Roman

Abstract

Kent ve Roman adını taşıyan bu tez, romanın ortaya çıkmasını, kentin gelişimiyle romanın gelişimi arasındaki etkileşimleri irdelemeye çalışmıştır. Kentte meydana gelen bütün değişmeler, romanın gelişiminde değişikliği neden olmuştur. Dört bölümden oluşan bu tezin ilk bölümünde kentin ortaya çıkmasına ilişkin kuramlardan ve Antik Yunan ve Roma kentlerinden söz edilmişitr. Antik çağlarda duvar resimleri ile başlayan anlatıların daha sonraları yerini yazıya bıraktığından söz ediyoruz. Bunun sonucu olarak da bir takım türler ortaya çıkmaktadır. İkinci bölümde Ortaçağ'daki kent devletlerden ulus-devletler sürecine kadar kent-devletlerin ortaya çıkışını, Rönesansı ve daha önce ortaya çıkan türlerin bir karışımı olarak romanın doğuşu anlatılmaktadır. Rönesansın Ortaçağ kenlerinde ortaya çıkışı, matbaanın kuruluşu yazını dönüştürmüş ve bu değişim düzlemi romana varmıştır. Üçüncü bölümde sanyi devrimi ve kapitalizmin ortaya çıkışı ile kentlerde okuma oranının artması, kentin çehresinin tamamen dönüşmesi, işbölümünün kente yansıması ile kentteki değişimlerin bizzat romana yansıması, kentin romanın kahramanı haline dönüşmesi ve sanatçının kalabalıklar içinde yalnız kalması anlatılmaktadır. Dördüncü bölümde 20. yüzyılla birlikte 19. yüzyılın ikinci yarısından başlayan kentin yapısının tamamen değişmesi, Fordist üretim ve bireyin artık kentte onu kesip geçen kendisini bu anlamda aşan güçlerin içinde yer alması anlatılmaya çalışılmıştır. Sonuç olarak kent, roman ve sanat ilişkisi kentteki değişim düzleminin romana yansımalarıyla bu tez içinde anlatılmaya çalışılmıştır. This thesis which is called The City and the Novel tries to examine the processus of the arising of the novel and the interacations between the developpement of the novel and the developpement of the city The hypothesis is that all the changements occuring in the city cause changements in the developpement of the novel. In the first part of this thesis which is formed of four parts it has been talked about the theories related to the arising of the city and the Anthique Greek and Roman cities which have an important influence in the modern civilisations and in the modern art. It has been seen that the narratives which started as wall paintings in the anthique civilisations let its place to the writing and in the time of Anthique Greek and Roman we withness to the forming of some species. In the second part it has been talked about the processus of the city -states in the Middle Ages until the appearing of the nation-states. The novel had appeared as a mixture of the all species. The processus of the Renaissance which had occured in the Middle Ages cities and the inventing of the printing press had caused a great changement in the writing and this level of changement gave the to the forming of the novel. In the third part it has been talked about the transformation of the city itself as the hero of the novel. With the Industrial Revolution and the capitalism the rate of reading had enormously increased and the cities had enormously changed. And all these changements had reflected directly to the novel. In the fourth part it has been talked about the changements which had started in the second part of the 19th century changed the structure of the cities in the 20th century. From that times it can be said that the individual is in a world where there are some forces which are beyond him/ her. As a conclusion it can be said that, in this thesis the relations between the city, novel and art tried to be examined in the level of the reflection of the changements in the city to the novel
