Publication: Ortaokul öğrencilerinin beden eğitimi ve spor dersine ilişkin tutum ve fiziksel aktivite düzeylerinin incelenmesi
Abstract
This study aimed to examine the attitudes and physical activity levels of secondary school students in relation to physical education and sports. Students‘ attitudes towards physical education were found to be positive with 137,8 points and physical activity levels were higher than the average level with 28,8 points. While the students' attitudes towards physical education class differed significantly from the classes (p <0.05), the level of physical activity did not differ significantly according to the classes (p> 0.05). On the other hand, students’ attitude towads physical education did not differ significantly based on gender (p> 0.05), whereas physical activity level showed a significant difference according to gender. While girls and boys have the same attitudes towards physicalducation, girls' physical activity level is significantly higher than that of boys. There was a significant relationship between students’ attitudes towards physical education course and physical activity at 22,5% (r = 0.225; p <0.000). When the situation for girls and boys was examined, a significant relationship was found between the girls and boys attitude towards physical education and physical activity in 22.5% (r = 0.258; p <0.000), and in 19.9% respectively (r = 0.199; p <0.000). Attitude towards physical education and physical activity levels differed significantly according to the sportstype (p <0.05). Based onthe results, findings were consistent with the literature. It is thought that this study will be important in terms of contributing to the literature on the physical activity levels of the students, physical education and sports lessons with the results obtained and providing a source for the subsequent studies.
