Publication: İstanbul’da otistik çocuklar eğitim merkezlerindeki öğrenci ebeveynlerinin yaşamları boyunca karşılaştıkları sorunların incelenmesi
Abstract
Bu araştırmanın amacı; İstanbul’da otistik çocuklar eğitim merkezlerindeki öğrenci ebeveynlerinin yaşamları boyunca karşılaştıkları sorunları incelemektir. Araştırmanın evrenini İstanbul ilinde Mili Eğitim Bakanlığı’na bağlı otistik çocuklar eğitim merkezlerine devam etmekte olan öğrenci ebeveynleri oluşturmaktadır. Örneklemini çalışmaya katılmayı kabul eden 53 ebeveyn oluşturmaktadır. Niteliksel olarak planlanan araştırmada ebeveyn ve otistik çocuğa ilişkin tanımlayıcı bilgileri ve ebeveynlere ilişkin sosyo-ekonomik bilgileri almak için araştırmacı tarafından geliştirilmiş soru formu ile sosyo-ekonomik durum değerlendirme formu kullanılmıştır. Ayrıca ailelerle yapılacak görüşmeler için yine araştırmacı tarafından geliştirilmiş “otizm konu rehberi” kullanılmıştır. Uygulama Kasım 2010 ile Nisan 2011 tarihleri arasında yapılmıştır. Araştırma sonunda ebeveynlerin çocuklarına otizm tanısı konduğunda bunu kabullenmekte zorlandıkları, yaşam şekillerinin büyük ölçüde değiştiği, kendilerini çevreden soyutladıkları, daha duygusal oldukları, gelecekten endişe duydukları, yapmak istedikleri birçok şeyden vazgeçtikleri, toplum içinde birçok güçlükler yaşadıkları sonucuna varılmıştır. The Investıgatıon of Problems Faced by Parents of the Students in Autıstıc Chıldren Educatıon Centers in Istanbul The main aim of this study is the investigation of problems faced by parents of the students in autistic children education centers in Istanbul. The population of the research includes parents of children who are students at autistic children education centers under the supervision of Ministry of Education in Istanbul. The sample of the study consists of 53 parents who accepted to join the research. In this qualitative research a questionnaire that was developed by the researcher and social-economic situation in the evoluation form were used to get descriptive information (socioeconomic data) about parents and autistic children. Also “autism theme guide” developed by the researcher was used for the interviews with parents. Research was performed between November 2010 and April 2011. The conclusions were as follows: Parents live difficulties in accepting the diagnosis of autism. This diagnosis changes the life-style of parents. Parents of autistic children isolate themselves from the environment, and they become more sentimental. They have more concerns about future than before. They give up most of their dreams about future, and parents experience so many difficulties in society. Key words: autistic children, autism, parents, problems, qualitative study
