Abstract
The aim of this study is to draw attention to a situation that has emerged recently by examining the changes in the city from the past to the present, taking into account the urbanization processes in Turkey. The main purpose of our study is to reveal that the neighborhood culture has disappeared in general terms and that it is more attractive to people to live on the TOKİ, in line with the interviews. Living in the neighborhood has ceased to be a desirable situation in terms of the social and cultural advantages of living in the TOKİ. The study aims to show that there is a social tendency towards the preference of gated communities instead of neighborhoods in the choice of place by sociologically examining the reasons that are effective in the change of space preferences of individuals. For this purpose, in-depth interviews were conducted with the residents of the 18th District in Kayaşehir District of Başakşehir district, which was selected as fieldwork research, and relevant data were obtained. In line with the above-mentioned goals and objectives, in the first chapter, which constitutes the theoretical framework, in the context of Bourdieu's habitus concept, it is the subject of detailing the habitus that transforms with the change of place. In the second part, which will be discussed in the context of the theoretical framework, the urbanization phenomenon is mentioned and the urbanization experiences of Turkey are discussed. Finally, the study was completed by writing the third part of the thesis, the findings and discussion part, in the light of the interviews made in the Kayaşehir District of Başakşehir district, which was chosen as the study area together with this theoretical framework.
