Kur’ân Ayetleri Işığında Ehl-i Kitab’a karşı bütüncül bir yaklaşım

Abstract

Ehl-i kitap, Kur’ân’ın birçok ayetinde geçen kavramlardan birisini oluşturmaktadır. Kur’ân, ehl-i kitap kavramını kullanırken genellikle yahudi ve hristiyanları kastetmiştir. Ancak Yahudi ve hristiyanlar yaptıkları pek çok fiil ve tutumdan dolayı Kur’ân tarafından çoğu kere ciddi bir şekilde eleştirilmiştir. Bunula birlikte ehl-i kitabın anlatıldığı bir kısım ayetler, delalet yönünden ihtilaf doğurmuştur. Zira bu ayetlerde ehl-i kitaba ait güzel vasıflar zikredilmiştir. Bu yüzden de genel olarak müfessirler söz konusu ayetlerin yorumunda ehl-i kitab’a menfi bir tutum içerisinde olmuşlardır. İşte bu makalede Kur’ân’a bütüncül bir yaklaşımla ehli kitaba karşı objektif bir bakış açısı sunulmaya çalışılmıştır.

Ahl al-Kitab term mentioned in a number of verses in the Qur’an. There is a consensus that this term refers to Jews and Christians in its general use in the Qur’an. There are many instances in the holy book of Islam, however, in which both Jews and Christians are severely criticized due to some of their actions and behaviors. There is a dispute on some of the verses concerning Ahl al-Kitab from the point of evidence, as these verses mention their praiseworthy qualities. Due to this ambiguity on the surface, some exegetes have adopted a negative stance against Ahl al-Kitab in their interpretation of these verses. This paper is an effort to take a holistic approach to the Qur’anic message in order to develop an objective perspective on Ahl al-Kitab.
