Medyada insan-doğa ilişkisi: Survivor örneğinde vahşi doğa tasviri

Abstract

Bu çalışmada, bir reality show olan Survivor'daki doğa anlatısının eleştirel bir incelemesi yapılmıştır. Gerçekliğin dolayımsız biçimde yansıtıldığının öne sürüldüğü reality show'lardan biri olan Survivor programında, gerçeklik bağlamında doğanın nasıl sunulduğu çalışmanın odağındadır. Survivor'da, doğa, olduğu gibi mi yansıtılmaktadır, yoksa yeniden mi kurulmaktadır? Bu soruların derinleştirildiği çalışmada, ilkin, reality show ve gerçeklik ilişkisi, devamla da insan-doğa ilişkisi bağlamında reality show konusu incelenmiştir. Survivor'daki doğa sunumuna, doğanın ve insanın doğa ile ilişkisinin medyada nasıl temsil bulduğuna bakılan çalışmada, Survivor isimli programın ilk adı olan Expedition Robinsonun gönderme yaptığı Daniel Defoe'nun Robinson Crusoe adlı romanının hikayesi ile Survivor'ınki karşılaştırmalı olarak ele alınırken; iki anlatıdaki koşutluklar bağlamında, doğanın ve insan-doğa ilişkisinin nasıl resmedildiği incelenmiştir. Çalışmada temel vurgu, medyadaki doğa sunumunun modern doğa anlayışıyla örtüştüğü ve Survivor'ın da bu modern doğa anlayışının temsil bulduğu bir başyapıt olduğu üzerine olmuştur. İncelemenin sonunda, Survivor'da doğanın vahşi, ehlileştirilmiş ve insan dışı olarak tasarlandığı görülmüş; böylece de araçsallaştırıldığı, homojenleştirildiği, nihayetinde de radikal bir dışlamaya maruz kaldığı ortaya çıkmıştır. The main focus is on how the nature is reflected in relation to reality in the programme of Survivor, which is considered as one of the reality shows reflecting the reality directly. Is nature directly reflected in Survivor or is it re- constructed? In this study in which these questions have been scrutinized profoundly, the relationship of reality show with reality and the reality show along with person-nature relationship have also been examined. This study examines the presentation of nature in Survivor and questions how the relationship of nature and person with nature has been represented in media. The story of Survivor has been compared with the story of Daniel Defoe’s novel entitled Robin Crusoe, which is referred through Expedition Robinson as the first name of the program of Survivor. Accordingly, in relation to the parallelism between these two narrations, the relationship between nature and person-nature has been examined. The main emphasis in this study is the fact that the presentation of “nature” in media coincides with the perception of modern nature and the Survivor is a masterpiece in which this modern nature perception is represented. This study has concluded that the nature is designed as wild, tamed and non-human in Survivor and in this respect, it revealed that nature has been instrumentalized, homogenized, and finally subjected to a radical exclusion.
