Competitive advantage variables applied in continiuous flat hot-dipped galvanising industry in Turkey

Abstract

Rekabet avantajı, piyasadaki rekabet seviyesini belirleyen esas etkendir. Sektörün yapısını ve değer zincirini belirlemek rekabet avantajının yapılandırılmasının ve korunmasının esas aşamalarıdır. Rekabet avantajı değişkenlerinin belirlenmesi bu karşılıklı ilişkinin sonucudur. Bu araştırmanın amacı rekabet avantajları değişkenlerini belirlemek ve Türkiye'deki sürekli yassı sıcak daldırma sektöründeki rekabet avantajı değişkenlerinin uygulamasını sunarak etkilerini belirlemektir. Yüksek seviyedeki rekabetle beraber istikrarsız ekonomik yapı, Türkiye'deki sürekli yassı sıcak daldırma sektöründe zorlukla anlaşılan bir rekabet ortamına sebep olmaktadır. Araştırma sonucunda, Türkiye sürekli yassı sıcak daldırma sektöründe üretim yapan beş firma bulunmuştur. Bu firmalar bu üretim sektöründe tecrübe kazanmış firmalardır. Azalan talep ve çoğalan arz sektörde çetin bir rekabet yaratmaktadır. Teknolojik gelişme, maliyet ve fiyat kontrolü, pazarlama, organizasyon ve yönetim, sektörel pozisyon, politika etkileri ve çevresel avantajlar sektör için rekabet avantajı değişkenleridir. Teknolojik gelişme, organizasyon ve yönetim ve çevresel avantaj uygulamaları sektördeki firmalara rekabet avantajı sağlama açısından kritik değişken değilken pazarlama, sektör pozisyonu ve politika etkileri uygulamaları sektör firmaları için kritik değişkenlerdir. Maliyet ve fiyat uygulaması ise Türkiye de ki sürekli yassı sıcak daldırma galvanizleme sektörü için çok kritik bir değişkendir. Bu bağlamda sürekli yassı sıcak daldırma sektöründe ki firmalar rakiplerine göre daha rekabetçi olabilme avantajını yakalayabilmek için kritik değişkenlerin üzerinde daha dikkatli çalışmaktadırlar.

Competitive advantage is the main concept determining the level of competition in the markets. Defining industry structure and value chain is the main steps of building and sustaining competitive advantage. Determination of the competitive advantage variables is the result of those interrelations. The aim of this research is to determine the competitive advantage variables, to present the applications of the competitive advantage variables and to find the degree of influences in continuous flat hot dipped galvanising industry in Turkey. The high levels of competition together with instable economic structure causes hardly predictable competition environment in continuous flat hot dipped galvanising industry in Turkey. It was found that there are five companies in continuous flat hot dipped galvanising industry in Turkey. Those companies are experienced in this industry of production. The decreasing demand with the increasing supply brings hard competition in the industry. The competitive variables are technological development, cost/ price control, marketing, organisation and management, industry position, policy influence and environment advantage for the industry. The applications of technological development, organisation and management and environmental advantage variables are not critical competitive advantage variables supplying competitive advantage to the industry lying companies while the applications of marketing, industry position and policy influence variables are critical competitive advantage variables in supplying competitive advantage. The application of cost/ price control is very critical competitive advantage variable for continuous flat hot dipped galvanising industry in Turkey. In this respect, the companies are concentrating more on the critical variables to get the advantage of being more competitive than their rivals in continuous flat hot dipped galvanising industry.
