Sinemada çizgi roman estetiği : Scott Pilgrim Dünyaya Karşı filminin çizgi romanı ile karşılaştırılması

Abstract

Çizgi romanlardan uyarlanan filmler, günümüzde dünya çapında oldukça popülerleşmiştir. Çizgi romanın, sinema gibi görsel bir sanat olması da onu uyarlamaya oldukça elverişli kılmaktadır. Çizgi roman filmlerinin yaygınlaşması ve çizgi romanların popüler sinemayı domine etmeye başlaması bu çalışmanın yapılmasının en önemli sebebidir. Zira bu çalışmada çizgi roman filmlerinin estetiğinin sinemadaki görünümünün yalnızca uyarlama olmadığı “yeniden dolayımlama” olduğu varsayımından yola çıkılmıştır. Çizgi roman ve sinema ilişkisi temelinde ideolojik analiz veya söylem analizi odaklı birçok çalışma olmasına rağmen, bu ilişkiye estetik boyutuyla odaklanan araştırma sayısının çok az olduğu görülmüştür. Bu çalışmanın amacı, Scott Pilgrim Dünyaya Karşı filmi ve Scott Pilgrim çizgi roman serisini estetik boyutlarıyla karşılaştırarak sinemada çizgi roman formunun nasıl yeniden dolayımlandığını incelemektir. Bu amaca uygun olarak, nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden betimsel analiz yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Çalışmanın kapsamını, çizgi roman ve sinemada çizgi roman; sınırlılığını ise Scott Pilgrim örneklemi oluşturmaktadır. Bu çalışmanın temel bulgusu, örneklem çizgi romanın estetik ögelerinin, örneklem filmde bilinçli bir şekilde kullanıldığı ve bunun bir uyarlama değil Joy Bolter ve Richard Grusin’in bahsettikleri “yeniden dolayımlama” olduğu olgusudur. Sinema ve çizgi roman ilişkisinin sinemada yarattığı bu estetik boyuttaki yenilik ve değişime dikkat çekmek, tezin literatüre getirdiği özgün katkı niteliğindedir.

Movies adapted from comics have become very popular around the world today. The fact that comic book is a visual art like cinema makes it very suitable for adaptation. The widespread use of comic book movies and the fact that comics started to dominate popular cinema is the most important reason for this study. Likewise, in this study, it is based on the assumption that the appearance of the aesthetics of comic book movies in the cinema is not just an adaptation, but a remediation. Although there are many studies focused on ideological analysis or discourse analysis on the basis of the relationship between comics and cinema, it has been observed that the number of studies focusing on this relationship with its aesthetic aspect is very few. The aim of this study is to examine how the comic book form is remediated in cinema by comparing the Scott Pilgrim Vs. the World movie and the Scott Pilgrim comic book series with their aesthetic aspects. In accordance with this purpose, descriptive analysis method, one of the qualitative research methods, was used. The scope of the study includes comics and comics in cinema; its limitation is the Scott Pilgrim sample. The main finding of this study is the fact that the aesthetic elements of the sample comic book are used consciously in the sample film and this is not an adaptation, but the remediation as mentioned by Joy Bolter and Richard Grusin. Drawing attention to the innovation and change in this aesthetic aspect created by the relationship between cinema and comics in cinema is the original contribution of the thesis to the literature.
