Abstract

Çocuk Ünitelerinde Çalışan Hemşirelerin Profesyonel Benlik Algıları ÖZET Amaç: Çocuk ünitelerinde çalışan hemşirelerin profesyonel benlik kavramları ile sosyotropi-otonomi kişilik özelliklerini belirlemektir. Gereç ve Yöntem: Bu tanımlayıcı çalışma, çocuk ünitelerinde çalışan 625 hemşire ile gerçekleştirilmiştir. Veriler, Hemşire Tanıtım Formu, Hemşirelerin Profesyonel Benlik Kavramı Ölçeği (HPBKÖ) ve Sosyotropi–Otonomi Ölçeği ile toplanmıştır. Ölçeklerden alınan yüksek puanlar, yüksek Profesyonel Benlik Kavramı ve Sosyotropi–Otonomi kişilik özelliğini göstermektedir. Verilerin değerlendirmesinde t testi, tek yönlü varyans analizi, Tukey HSD kullanılmıştır. Bulgular: Hemşirelerin HPBKÖ puan ortalaması 113,85, sosyotropi alt ölçeği puan ortalaması 64,20, otonomi alt ölçeği puan ortalaması 76,39‟dur. HPBKÖ toplam puanı ile sosyotropi alt ölçek toplam puanı arasında pozitif yönde zayıf ilişki, otonomi alt ölçek toplam puanı arasında pozitif yönde orta düzeyde ilişki bulunmuştur. Çalışma yılı beş yıldan fazla olan, poliklinikte çalışan, yönetici olan, bakım planı sistemi ve/ veya bakım standartları kullanan, kongre/ sempozyumlara sık katılan, mesleğini yapmaktan memnun olan, özel hastanede çalışan hemşirelerin HPBKÖ puanları yüksek bulunmuştur. Bu özellikler sosyotropi-otonomi puanlarını etkilememiştir. Sonuç: Çocuk ünitelerinde çalışan hemşirelerin profesyonel benlik kavramları ile sosyotropi–otonomi kişilik özelliklerinin orta düzeyde olduğu söylenebilir. Bu özellikleri gelişmiş çocuk hemşirelerinin etkili iletişim kurması, problem çözmesi ve kaliteli bakım vermesi beklenir. Bu nedenle, çocuk hemşirelerinin profesyonel benlik kavramı ve sosyotropi-otonomi özelliklerinin geliştirilmesi yararlı olacaktır. Purpose: The aim of this descriptive study was to determine the professional selfconcepts and sociotropy-autonomy personality traits of nurses. Materials and Method: The sample was composed from 625 nurses working in pediatric units. Data were collected with a Nurse Description Form, the Professional Self-Concept Scale in Nurses (NPSCS), the Sociotropy-Autonomy Scale. Higher scores on the scales indicate greater levels of Professional Self-Concept and Sociotropy-Autonomy traits. Data were analyzed using the t test, one-way ANOVA, and Tukey HSD. Results: The nurses‟ NPSCS mean score was 113,85, their mean score on the sociotropy subscale was 64,20, and their mean score on the autonomy subscale was 76,39. There was a positive relationship between the NPSCS total score and the total score of the sociotropy and autonomy subscales. The study also found that those nurses who had a professional experience of more than five years, who used care plan system or care standards, who frequently attended congresses/ symposiums, received higher scores on the NPSCS. Conclusion: According to results, it could be said that the nurses had moderate levels of professional self-concept and sociotropy-autonomy personality traits. Pediatric nurses who have these traits at an advanced level are expected to communicate effectively, solve problems, and provide quality care. Therefore, it would be useful to promote pediatric nurses‟ professional self-concept and sociotropy-autonomy traits.
