Türkiye ve İngiltere'deki coğrafya ders kitaplarının ve öğretim programlarının karşılaştırılması

Abstract

Bu araştırmanın amacı, Türkiye ve İngiltere’nin öğretim programları ve Türkiye’deki ortaöğretim 9.sınıfta okutulmak üzere Milli Eğitim Bakanlığı’nca hazırlanmış olan coğrafya ders kitabı ile İngiltere’de 10 ve 11. sınıf coğrafya dersinde okutulan ders kitabının; dış yapı, içerik, biçimsel görünüm, görsel materyaller, ölçme ve değerlendirme açısından incelenmesine dayanmaktadır. Araştırma nitel bir araştırma olup, veriler doküman incelemesi yöntemiyle toplanmıştır. Çalışmadan çıkarılan sonuç ve öneriler; İngiltere’nin coğrafya ders kitabının gerek görsel tasarım gerekse içerik özellikleri bakımlarından Türkiye’nin coğrafya ders kitabından daha zengin olduğu ve dolayısıyla (Meb) 9.sınıf coğrafya ders kitabının geliştirilmesi yönündedir. Her iki ülkenin öğretim programları içerik analizi yapılarak benzerlik farklılıklar sunulmuştur.• Türkiye’deki ders kitaplarının dış ve iç yapı özelliklerinin iyileştirilerek ve geliştirilerek daha kaliteli ve dikkat çekici hale getirilmesinin gerekli olduğu saptanmıştır. •Türkiye’nin 9. sınıf coğrafya ders kitabına, İngiltere’nin coğrafya ders kitabında olduğu gibi içeriğin sunumunda rol oynayan görsel materyallerin tümünün çeşitli, renkli, nitelikli ve anlaşılır görseller eklenmeli ya da var olan görsellerin kalitesinin arttırılması gerekmektedir.• Her iki ülkenin ders kitaplarında yer alan etkinlikler ve ünite değerlendirme uygulamalarının öğrenme sürecini ve sonucunu değerlendirmeye dayalı olduğu anlaşılmıştır. Bu sebeple de öğrencileri hem ders içinde hem de ders dışında etkin kılan nitelikte olduğu saptanmıştır.

The aim of this research is to investigate education programmes and the geography textbooks prepared for 10th and 11th grade students in UK and the geography textbook prepared by Turkey’s Ministry of National Education for 9th grade students in terms of outer structure, content, formal properties, visual materials, assessment and evaluation. It also aims to determine the similarities and differences between the textbooks mentioned. The research is a qualitative research, and the data were collected by document analysis method. The result of study is the fact that the British geography textbooks investigated have richer content and better book design compared to the Turkish ones. Hence, the study proposes that content and design of the Turkish geography textbooks need to be enhanced. The similarities and differences were presented by analyzing the content of the curriculum of both countries. • It is ascertained that outer structure and content of the Turkish textbooks need to be revised, improved, rendered more qualified and attracted. •Visuals in Turkish textbooks which are used to give present the relevant contents must be diversified with various, colourful, sufficient and comprehensible materials; or quality of the existing visuals should be enhanced. •Practices and unit evaluation exams in the textbooks of the both countries are based on assessing the process and result of learning; also they are proved effective for the students in their curricular and extracurricular activities.
