Abstract
Sanayileşmenin önemli sonuçlarından biri olan demiryolları,19. yüzyılın güvenilir ve hızlı ulaşım araçlarından biri olması, askerifaydalar sunması, stratejik yönleriyle siyasi avantajlar kazandırmasınedeniyle Osmanlı Devleti tarafından benimsenen ve talep edilenbir ulaşım aracı olmuştur. Yenileşme hareketinin bir gereği olarakkabul edilen demiryolları, ülke topraklarındaki liman ve iç bölgeleriarası bağlantı için önemli görülmüştür. Bu nedenle yerli ve yabancıyatırımcılar tarafından Osmanlı Devleti’ne demiryolu yapımı için teklifgötürülen bölgelerden birisi de bir liman ve ticaret bölgesi olan Antalyahattı olmuştur. Bu çalışmada öncelikli olarak Osmanlı Devleti’ndekidemiryolu faaliyetleri genel bir tarihsel değerlendirmeyle ele alınacak,ardından yapımı planlanan ancak gerçekleştirilemeyen AntalyaDemiryolu Hattı projesi üzerinde durulacak, ayrıca günümüzde de hâlâmevcut olmayan bu hattın Osmanlı Devleti döneminde yapılamamanedenlerine değinilecektir. Bu çalışmayla, Osmanlı Devleti’nde yapımıplanlanan bu hattın günümüze kadar gerçekleştirilememe nedenlerinetarihsel bir zemin sunma amaçlanmıştır.
As one of the important results of industrialization, railways have_x000D_ been adopted and demanded by the Ottoman Empire because it was_x000D_ one of the reliable and fast transportation vehicles of the 19th century_x000D_ period, offered military benefits, and provided political advantages_x000D_ with its strategic aspects. The railways, which are accepted as a requirement of the modernization movement, have been considered important for the connection between the ports and the inner regions of the_x000D_ Ottoman territory. For this reason, one of the regions where domestic_x000D_ and foreign investors were offered proposals for the construction of_x000D_ the railway to the Ottoman Empire was the Antalya line, a port and a_x000D_ trade area. In this study, the railway activities in the Ottoman Empire_x000D_ will be discussed with a general historical evaluation, then the Antalya_x000D_ railway line project which was planned to be built but not realized will_x000D_ be emphasized and the reasons of the failure of this line, which still_x000D_ does not exist today, will be mentioned. With this study, it is aimed to_x000D_ provide a ground for the reasons why this line, which was planned to_x000D_ be built during the Ottoman Empire, could not be realized until today.
